it is a perfect thread actually.  the truly weird and stupid on here almost to a man disbelieve in the moon-landings. the conspiracy theorists who take it to this level can and should be totally ignored as it is reflected in everything else they say,  the moon-landings are the perfect litmus test for a mentally-damaged conspiracy theorist because it can be comprehensively proven, yet still some cannot believe.  but alien? Reptilians? Illunminati and the rest? no problem

I call them
CONSPIRANUTS!!!

I call him CONSPIRATOR

Lunar atmosphere...

Until recently, most everyone accepted the conventional wisdom that the moon has virtually no atmosphere. Just as the discovery of water on the moon transformed our textbook knowledge of Earth's nearest celestial neighbor, recent studies confirm that our moon does indeed have an atmosphere consisting of some unusual gases, including sodium and potassium, which are not found in the atmospheres of Earth, Mars or Venus. It's an infinitesimal amount of air when compared to Earth's atmosphere. At sea level on Earth, we breathe in an atmosphere where each cubic centimeter contains 10,000,000,000,000,000,000 molecules; by comparison the lunar atmosphere has less than 1,000,000 molecules in the same volume. That still sounds like a lot, but it is what we consider to be a very good vacuum on Earth. In fact, the density of the atmosphere at the moon's surface is comparable to the density of the outermost fringes of Earth's atmosphere where the International Space Station orbits.

Lunar gravity...
varies believe it or not but averages...
1.622 m/s²
As a measurement of weight an object on the Moon averages at 1/6th that of its weight on the Earth.
I've never heard of it being 1/10th.

Oh almost forgot...  and we know these things because we've been there.

Yes, we did, otherwise it'd be a theory (guess)

As this forum becomes cluttered with the detritus of the conspiracy theorists that believe nothing unless it comes to them in a dream or they read it on a website run by a mental patient, it is perhaps time to bring up the single biggest conspiracy theory that forms the litmus test of the legions of tinfoil hat wearers - the moon landings.

Despite massive overwhelming evidence there remains a stubborn small percentage of people - mostly conspiracy theorists - who refuse to believe that man landed on the moon in 1969 and returned there 6 more times for 5 more landings.

So to see who here is a real tinfoil hat wearer or merely dabbling in the insane it is time to see just who believes and who doesn't.

says the climate change denier.

Or are you talking about armpit? Wink

So Longy, you believe that scientists sent us to the moon, but you also believe in a massive global conspiracy among scientists over global warming just so they can get more research grants.

What of the different direction of the shadows?

Because the Earth is also a large light source on the moon. The Earth is about 32 times brighter (when seen on the moon) than a full moon is when seen on Earth. The full Moon casts shadows on Earth.

So, having the Earth above the lunar horizon, on one side, and the Sun on the other would produce shadows from two separate directions .

That would actually produce double shadows.
The real explanation is much more simple. The ground was sloped and a wide angle lens was used which exaggerates perspective.
Explanations for all the dodgy evidence used by moon landing deniers can be found at:

This poll should also extend to those who take everything they see in the media as a proven fact.

My father thinks the moon landings were faked... but he believes that 9/11 wasn't an inside job, and he's supposedly a "logical thinker".

more likely you are masturbating.  you certainly aren't thinking.  there is no atmosphere on the moon. it is a total vacuum.

Care to apologise to DRAH??
