Dead or Alive.
Apr 16th, 2014 at 7:02pm

I read this today and was at a loss to work out just who is the silliest.

The bureaucrats who put this in place, or us for putting up with it.....

A lady went to her local RMS to advise them of her mother's death, so as to cancel her licence and rego.

She was advised that the NSW Government of Births, Deaths & Marriages document "Medical Certificate of Cause of Death" is not acceptable for the purpose of cancelling a NSW driver's licence.....

There was no mention of what proof you had to produce.

Huh Huh Huh Huh

Maybe you have to wheel in the corpse?

The Medical Certificate Cause of Death is issued by a Doctor and is sent to BDM.

It is not the same as the official Death Certificate which is then issued by BDM and is the proof required.

Fair enough...
Does seem a bit 'nit-picky' though....

I'm sticking with mine .........the Med Cert Cause of Death is sent to BDM and held on record, but it is not a BDM created document.

BDM creates and issues the Death Certificate.

Do you have a link to what you read/heard???

Yep, I found it............she's correct that Med Cert Cause of Death  enables a funeral to go ahead...

....but she's incorrect in referring to that certificate as a BDM document.......she needs the BDM issued Death Certificate to cancel the licence and rego.

Think I just sorted it out for myself....

And it's still nit-picking on the part of RMS.

Not that I'm planning on using, or having used for me, one in the near future....

I sure hope not!!!!!

I can understand the woman's reaction though..........I was gobsmacked and angry when Australia Post would not accept a Med Cert Cause of Death to redirect my late brother's mail from regional NSW to my address in Melbourne
