Here is a newspaper article about it
Quote:The Packer witness who never made the news
Brambles heiress Mary Ash, 86, the woman at the centre of the mysterious accident in which a car being driven by Kerry Packer killed three people, has died.
It was the early hours of the morning and Packer, then an 18-year-old Geelong Grammar schoolboy, was driving back to Sydney from the snowfields with 36-year-old Mrs Ash and her two young sons, Stephen and and Nicholas.
According to Paul Barry's The Rise and Rise of Kerry Packer, Packer, who was at the wheel of Mrs Ash's Rover 90, told police that the other car had crossed to the wrong side of the road.
Despite the fact that three boys in the other car were killed, Mrs Ash badly injured and Kerry put in hospital for eight weeks, the story never saw the light of day. Certainly Sir Frank Packer's organ The Telegraph never made mention of the incident but nor did rival newspapers of the day.
Mrs Ash was later to become embroiled in bitter stoush with Palm Beach locals, including Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward, over her Blueberry Ash development smack in the middle of Pacific Road.
The fight went all the way to the High Court, with Mrs Ash victorious. More recently the same site recently stirred another battle between locals and developers Susan and Garry Rothwell. The developers again coming up trumps.
Kerry Packer supported Mrs Ash for the rest of her life. Indeed, in 1995 the late tycoon volunteered to fund her $185,000 purchase of a flat in Potts Point apartment block Byron Hall.
Mrs Ash is survived by her two sons. A third son Fred, 52, has recently become a woman and now prefers to be called Alexandra.

AXPAYERS spent more than $73,000 farewelling Kerry Packer, a man who famously paid as little tax as possible.
The media tycoon's state funeral in 2006 at the Sydney Opera House cost of $73,223.63 and was by far the most expensive such funeral of the past eight years, Federal Government figures show.
Celebrities from around the world, including the Hollywood actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, attended the funeral, where the Sydney Symphony played Waltzing Matilda.
The cost to the public is revealed in a written answer by the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, to a question from a Labor backbencher.
In 1991, when Mr Packer was facing a federal investigation into the print media industry, he was asked whether he tried to legally cut the amount of tax he paid.
"If anybody in this country doesn't minimise their tax, they want their heads read, because as a government, I can tell you, you're not spending it that well that we should be donating extra," he replied...
