Well.. re the hero thing?
I think Anna Bligh did a fantastic job dealing with those flood yrs and cyclones... IT didn't make HER a hero tho did it?.

Not that it mattered at the time, but it gave her a huge boost in the polls.  Newmann knows that.  It is no mere co-incidence he has chosen this time to go to an election.  He is not a dumb political strategist.  He is an astute one......or his advisors are.

See that guy who got arrested for wearing the "I'm with stupid" t-shirt at an LNP campaign thingy?

I can't imagine that sort of thing happening (the arrest) in any other state other than here in Queensland.

Yes, I was reading another article on the incident:

Queensland man arrested after waving next to LNP campaigners in 'I’m with stupid' T-shirt

This is someone who was wearing an "I'm with Stupid" t-shirt while standing next to LNP campaigners. The police response? Three patrol cars and a paddy wagon to arrest someone for "public nuisance".

So much for freedom of speech. This has potential to backfire on the Newman government, badly.

Me either.! Angry  I was not aware of this until your post. How disgusting.
I have to say 'it takes me back to the JOH yrs' .  But that IS what QLD voters are responsible for.

Sadly I think many supporters of Newman are Mexicans,  and have no real IDEA, of what it WAS like,  back then,  nor what this govt represents TODAY.

Queensland is where the shonkiest of the shonks live.  Primo shonks have always been politicians and their cronies,  in this state. Newman is the primest of the prime... at least in public view.  Who knows who is pulling his strings.

That's not his style. He prefers jackboots and goose stepping.

AND lets hope that people remember they chucked Bligh out because there was an idea or two that didn't sit well with QLD'ers.  Yet Newman came to office and proceeded to put in place many of those vote-losing ideas.
Lets hope , at least in this, the Qld voter will be consistent and reject these fascist actions.

Things discussed by Labor - back then.  Things done by Newman.

How vacuous, ignorant, and propagandised are we?

After having lived here for a few years, I've gotta say that up here they probably deserve someone like Newman and the LNP.

The whitewashing of Joh started years ago - as the Beattie government became stale.

The modernisation of the various arms of government and the general thinking of the Qld populace has never gotten close to the other states. There's still a huge collective chip on Queenslander's shoulders when any comparison to the southern states is introduced to an argument.

We deserve another term or two under Campbell.

I notice you say you have lived here for some yrs  (not v long obviously) because you say THEY deserve it.  Then you say WE.  Did you vote for Newman Team? Bet you did. Mexican, just like I said.

well You might think its deserved,  but I don't agree. Once is enough surely. Perhaps not tho. If we haven't learned the lesson.

I get your point.  Feckless knuckleheads might deserve an extra punishing, if they voted for him before, however I don't deserve it.!!!!!!!!

I did live here in the Joh yrs.  Did you.? If you did, and were not sympatico with the regime,  you would understand my point.
