Campbell Newman’s Government slammed in ReachTEL poll

PREMIER Campbell Newman is battling to save his political life, with a growing number of Queenslanders turning against his fight-prone administration.

A ReachTEL poll has revealed
up to 40 of the Newman Government’s 73 MPs face being turfed out of office at next year’s election, including Mr Newman
from his inner-city seat of Ashgrove.

LNP are ahead 51-49 on 2PP. However, the 2PP is largely fictitious due to these factors (1) PUP; (2) Optional Preferential Voting.

Stafford by election this week-end.  Held by the LNP.  Their bloke resigned after a fight he could never win with Newmann.  This seat will go to the ALP with about a 14% swing against Newmann.......my guess.  (No PUP candidate.)

Anybody hear the LNP candidate for Stafford on the radio yesterday?

Either they f-cked up with the pre-selection or they just put in some goose as a token candidate as they realised they couldn't win it.

A day out and he's managed to piss off half of the sitting LNP MPs.

I was wrong.  The swing is 20%.  ALP romp in.

Link.

Poll Bludger is also reporting about a 20% swing.

Part of that swing is a protest vote, and some of that swing is the political spectrum returning to the centre.

The protest vote precludes a meaningful extrapolation of this result to the next state election. However, it is clear that there is significant dissatisfaction with the Newman government, just as there was with the Redcliffe by-election.

Probably a few more than that, but it would put seats rated as safe and very safe in play.

I don't expect it would really be that bad for the LNP at the next state election but the swing is on.

Ya see....this is why this silly little twerp is driving the LNP into the depths of destruction.

Link.

I doubt there is anyone out here in voter land who is aware of any drastic decision taken by the LNP to address whatever mess they reckon they were left with by the ALP.  All we have had shoved in our faces is:

1.  Sack 14000 public servants.
2.  Create a War with bikies.  Make innocents guilty by mere association.
3.  Create a War with Doctors.
4.  Give the Attorney General personal power to keep people in jail.
5.  Destroy the Crime and Misconduct Commission.
6.  Politicise the Cops.
7.  Spend a fortune on getting feedback from Queenslanders and then ignore what they say.
8.  Marginalise those within your own Parliamentary cohort, so much so they resign from the LNP and join PUP or just outright resign.....and cause a by-election where the outcome is an annihilation of the LNP vote.

He is an idiot.

This silliness from the Government makes it difficult to refute Ms Palaszczuk's words:
Quote:
People don't want an arrogant, out-of-touch Government. They want a Government that listens, that cares about them. This is a Premier who is taking Queensland backwards ... he's not just not listening to people here in Stafford, he's not listening to Queenslanders right across the state.

Privatisation is a dirty word with voters. All it does is convert a not-for-profit asset owned by everyone into a for-profit corporation owned by the privileged few. Taking assets out of the hands of elected governments and putting them into the hands of unelected boards does nothing to keep prices down. Privatisation inevitably causes prices to rise and/or the quality of service to decline.

It is no coincidence that the privatisation fetish has caused the retail price of electricity to skyrocket. The use of renewables and the carbon price is only a small part of the price rise. Most of it is poles and wires, with privatised utilities spending up big on unnecessary infrastructure and then charging it to their customers.
