Back In Hobart After Three Months At Sea.

Sea Shepherd ship back in Hobart after Southern Ocean anti-whaling campaign

ABC News.

Anti-whaling activists aboard Sea Shepherd Australia's flagship have returned to Hobart after three months at sea.      Smiley

Dozens of supporters flocked to Hobart's waterfront this morning to welcome one of Sea Shepherd Australia's anti-whaling fleet to the dock.      Smiley

The Steve Irwin ship had been at sea for more than 90 days taking part in the organisation's longest Antarctic anti-whaling campaign yet.

Sea Shepherd's ships began heading home earlier this month after reporting the Japanese processing ship, the Nisshin Maru, was travelling north to Japan, signalling the end of the whaling season.

Sea Shepherd's Adam Burling says the Steve Irwin crew is glad to be in Hobart.

"Tasmanians always offer Sea Shepherd a huge amount of support," he said.

It is still unclear how many whales were killed this season.

Good onya Sea Shepherd, we love the whales.........and our sharks.

Why can't the Sea Shepherd people physically stop the people who are contracted by the WA government from getting near the sharks. Turn the heat up Sea Shepherd, you can do it for the Japanese whalers, give our people the same treatment.

If we ar serious about Japan and their whaling, we must be more serious about the killing of our protected species sharks.

...........

Sea Shepherd Australia has been working with the Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) at legal action against the State Government, however due to the exemption from the Federal Environment Minister, the goal posts have been moved so we are seeking further advice.

Basically, the Australian Government has exempted itself from its own laws to kill Australian iconic protected species, the full details can be found here:
