Quote:as for not caring about the cost of opening the floodgates to Boat people.. well maybe you should..
Of course I do, but it's costing us just as much to keep them out, possibly more.
Quote:take a look at the DEBT... why do you think we have that I wonder???????
The "debt" also transpired into more savings for Australians than we've seen for decades. This also meant paying off more personal debt. Inflation was incredibly low and steady. Do you remember the bumpy days of inflation under Howard? Howard privatised everything he could get his hands on and when the GFC hit - the pyramid collapsed. Labor helped a lot of people get back on their feet after 2007 and yes it didn't come cheap, but still better than propping up just a select few as Abbott has begun to do.
Quote:you will probably find that the airline has insured its plane.. and they are paying for at least some of this search,.
Where do you think the insurers get their money?
Quote:I just find it amazing that you feel justified in your stance on this...would you really feel for the Australian taxpayer if your family were on that plane?????
Of course I would be grateful if the government made an extended search to find my family - but I wouldn't expect it, nor would most people. There's usually a limit for a pleb. People often find out what happened to their families when the tax payer funded rescue stops and family and friends look independently.
