Keeps guns out of the hands of almost all Australians....to that you cheer with glee......only one shortcoming with ole Johnny's 'laws'.....the only ones they can't seem to keep the guns out of the hands of is criminals, but as the Poms always say, we're a nation of criminals anyway.  Grin Grin Grin

I hail from the only state which was settled entirely by free settlers, so speak for yourself about being descended from criminals.

Hardened Criminals don't, by definition, obey the law so why the assumption that laws will prevent criminals from gaining access to firearms?   It is silly and simplistic to assume that hardened Criminals will be affected by ANY law.  These laws were intended to indetify to society as a whole that firearms are not acceptable and to enable the Police to identify anybody who posseses a firearm illegally and to charge them with committing a crime.

Australians don't need firearms.  We don't live in a Wild West society like the USA where arguments are settled at the end of a gun and at the drop of a hat.   Cheesy  Cheesy Grin Grin Cheesy Cheesy
