Another question on the Carbon Tax.
Jul 13th, 2012 at 11:39am

Now if a company increased prices due to extra cost of the carbon tax and stated the Increase was due to the Carbon Tax, but made a mistake in the amount and was fined millions of dollars for it. Then paid the fine, Would it be legal then for the company to increase prices again to regain losses from the Carbon Tax Fine then state the increase was due to the Carbon Tax?

No company will increase costs due to the carbon tax.

They may because of the purchese of carbon permits

but that would only be a great idea if they wanted to be fined again.

Millions????  Come off it.  Businesses misleading consumers face fines of between $6600 and $66,000 for minor offences.  Major breaches, when taken to court, could result in fines of up to $1.1 million.  Surely if it could be shown that there had been a genuine mistake, that would be a defence available to the person or corporation concerned.  Or don't you have any faith in our legal system?

Carbon pricing (and tax) is the single greatest thing ever invented. It  strikes at the core of what drives decisions and inovation.... money.

Unfortunetly, its brilliant effectiveness is diluted by other interfering subsidies, tarriffs and levy's which work sometimes for and sometimes against its outcomes.

So if a businesses electricity bill increased by $2,000 and that price rise is attributed to the carbon tax (lets not forget that the carbon tax component will be clearly noted in our bills), you Leftards are saying that the business cannot increase prices to pay for the increased power bill? That would mean the business would lose money and eventually go bust!

The carbon tax is illegal corporate price fixing and subsidizing our economic competitors - it is insane and its architects should be locked up. Cool
