Dick Smith had foot in mouth accusing ALDI's of selling imported beetroot to undercut his product. ALDI's beetroot is all Aussie product, i know i buy it.

Has the labelling laws got anything to do with this.

i.e
99% foreign and 1% local, the sell as Packed and Owned in Australia, with Australian and Imported product.

I bought walnuts and the packaging said packed in Australia from imported products, but not the country of origin. In this case it can only be one country so they should state which one it is.

Aldi beetroot has the Product of Australia logo on the label so Dickie is telling furphies.

Dick and Harvey are a pair of old whingers.

This is spot on, we don't have any trouble producing the product we seem to have a problem giving the farmer a fair price for their produce. Big companies are extending their profits further and further but cannot seem to let a little trickle through to the farmer so that they can justify doing what they do. Look at McDonalds and the Tasmanian potato farmers, it is a never ending battle for the farmers to just break even but McDonald cannot pay a little more to make them profitable while making massive profits causing obesity in our children
