That's right, son. Also, no guns, thanks.

What should he do if he sees a Palestinian?

He'll be right. What'll you do if you see a little bleck boostard?

Usually get a quick shoe shine, dish out a bit of God, King and Empire then move on.

Yes thanks. The French had to surrender to Germans in the same rail car the Armistice was signed, after the Russian front was secured by treaty.

We celebrate that on Anzac Day?

The Arabs kind of lost any sympathy with most people when they started to target civilians in market places, buses and on aeroplanes.

Anzacs were the men of WWI. Yanks have taken over most of Oz but does Anzac Day have to comply with US support of Israel's invasion into legal Palestine territory? Yanks weren't in the war when Anzac Cove 1915 happened.

The territory of Israel is a matter of historic dispute between the West and the Ottoman Empire for centuries so please lets not pretend this is some new thing or that the Palestinians have had sovereignty time immemorial.  It was certainly an objective of the West to retake those territories in the Great War from the Ottomans and the Australian Lighthorse played a decisive role so - yes I think Israel is linked with ANZAC day. This is such a serious day so please forgive this serious post:

It's a day when I will remember WW1 when soldiers were forced
to go over the top of the trenches & charge against 1000's
of machine guns.
Even when such charges failed with tens of  1000's killed -
the charges were repeated in following days with more "canon fodder".
I consider that the generals & the Govt's who sent men -
often against their will - into such acts of suicide should have
been put on trial & hanged.

Instead we fool ourselves that the all the men were brave.
If they didn't go over the top they were shot by their own officers
who remained in the trenches.

It's a day to remember those poor blokes who were forced
to give their lives for no military gain.
It's also a time remember those who were brave.
It's a time to remember the horrors of war &
the peace we have enjoyed in comparison.

Israel had sod-all to do with it, Israel didn't even exist at the time.

It was Palestine, and at the time, the Palestinians (mostly Arabs, but
also Jews) were on our side.

Glory to the ANZAC - the greatest and most noble soldier who ever lived - hated only by degenerates and perverts who want us to apologize for our brave Great Grandfathers... Cool

Yes FriAYY...Yes and all those places you mentioned. Not that many people realise that it was the Australian Army in the form of those 18 to 21 year olds, who made up the bulk of our infantry in New Guinea, who were the first forces to stop the might of the Japanese Army.

Our 8th Division finally arrived from the Middle East to bolster our Forces but it was our kids who took on the best the Japs had and beat the bastards!

And they were the cream troops, the Japs had. They were fresh from butchering possibly millions of Chinese in mainland China.

It would be fanciful to think the same fate, would not have awaited our own families on the mainland. God bless those brave young souls, we owe them a debt we can never repay. The same debt is owed to all those who pick up arms in the name of their Country, they are not politicians and serve where they are told to serve. They are the bravest of the brave.

If you want to read about them..I recommend Kokoda by Peter Fitzsimmons...He humanises their story.

Good book.

My brother takes groups of abused and disadvantaged kids to Kakoda, they are put with a mentor and all work as a team to get though the trek together.

This year will be his 6th trip.

Also good reading – A Bastard of a Place (author slips my mind at the moment)

My grand-dad was 2/14th.

My Great Uncle was 6th Div 2/2 .....killed in action 20/10/42 Templeton's Crossing on the Track he was 34 & his brother was 7th Div 2/3 Pnr. KIA (3 days later) 23/10/42 El Alamein aged 38 (not all were young fellas)

Wow Swagman.....My Father was 6th Div 2/2 on the Track too...

Yeah, might well have known each other.  He spent time in the middle east as well.

He joined from Warrawong NSW although his family (and mine) were from Lithgow.

The Liberation of Israel from the Ottoman Empire was always a primary objective of the first world war, these territories had been in dispute between the West and the Ottoman Empire since the fall of the Roman Empire.  The Australian Lighthorse played a decisive role in the liberation of Israel in the Great War - glory be to the ANZACS - long live liberated Israel - ancient home of the Gallic tribes...
