Don't put words in my mouth Abu. All I am claiming is that Islam makes the destruction part of the religion. The only people here claiming that they are doing humanity a favour by destroying cultural heritage in the name of religion are Muslims.
You really do not seemed to have study history at all. your grasp of it like what expect from a kindergarten child.
When I was studying history at university, the Jewish lecturer (who holds a PhD, and was not some internet layman like yourself) told us that when Muslim Arabs conquered places like the Byzantine Empire, they took all the best parts of those empires and incorporated into their own; science, architecture, etc.
This is what lead to their succes. They were not destoryer, they were builders.
The fact is that idols contribute nothing to society. Science, architecture, medicine, etc. these arte the things which society needs , and these are what Muslims preserved and improved upon.
Quote:Are you suggesting I would be incapable of bringing forth a European Jew, gypsie etc? Didn't you or Falah recently use Spanish gypsie as an example of western decadence because they lowered their standards to that of Islam?
Are you lying again?
Quote: Quote:What's tragic is the mindless idiots in the West who harped on about blocks of stone being turned into smaller bits of stone, whilst the people there starved to death.
If they really were starving to death, don't you think the local Muslims have the wrong priorities? Isn't it a bit hypocritical for you to criticise westerners for trying to save these monuments while people starve and you and Falah talk about it as a favour to humanity? Has it occured to you that these people might not be starving if it weren't for such lunacy? How are we supposed to help these people if they spend money on weapons to destroy rocks inbstead of helping themselves? At least with saving the monuments there was a chance of a sensible outcome.
Blowing up the polytheistic idols cost next to nothing. A bit of dynamite is not very expensive.
Quote:Destruction of religious statues 'ended drought'

Afghanistan's Taliban leader says Allah has sent rain to the drought-hit country because he's pleased at the smashing of the Buddha statues.
Widespread rains have broken a four-year drought in Afghanistan.
Mullah Mohammad Omar told three Pakistani Islamic scholars that Allah deprived Afghanistan of rain because of the delay in destroying the statues.
Islamabad's Urdu-language newspaper Ausaf says Omar believes the West is more concerned about the statues than Afghans who had been suffering from the drought.

Both islam and judaism teach that prophet Abraham destoyed polytheistic idols.
This is what the jewish tradition teaches about idol destruction:
Quote:when Abraham was still a young child, he realized that idol worship was nothing but foolishness. To make his point, one day, when Abraham was asked to watch the store, he took a hammer and smashed all the idols - except for the largest. His father came home aghast. "What happened?!" he shouted. "It was amazing, Dad," replied Abraham. "The idols all got into a fight and the biggest idol won!"
The idea, of course, was to show his father how ridiculous it is to ascribe power to such idols! There was no way for his father to respond; deep down he knew that Abraham had tuned into a deeper truth.
Nimrod, as the most powerful world leader of the time, was the one most threatened by Abraham's ideas of a supreme God. So Nimrod threw Abraham into a fiery furnace, saying "Let's see your God save you now." Abraham emerged unscathed.
