I've pretty-well given up responding to the serial abusers.

Most of whom DO seem to be from the right, for some reason, and many
of whom cannot write a single sentence without denigrating their opponent.

I really do have better things to do with my time.

I couldn't give a bugger what people call me. Never have and never will.

It's the 'c' word that I find extremely offensive and that has been used on here twice recently, once by Gist and again by smithy. I didn't see you complain about that

...

Anyway, what 'c' word? Surely not 'cods'?

All some posters can do is throw personal abuse and resort to petty insults  to try and drag the debate into the gutter where they have no problem wallowing in the muck.....I will not respond to personal attacks in future and hope others will not respond to these individuals and feed their pathetic ego's.....There is a reason these people resort to abuse and are mainly from the right side of politics.....Do not feed the trolls!!!

Unforntunately some people do enter into personal abuse & as a general rule, I agree that it is appropriate to simply ignore it!

However, from time to time, it  may also be appropriate to put them back into their place & I reserve the right to do so, either directly by telling them what they are or indirectly (in my role as Moderator), by giving them a short holiday!

It's the interwebs, right ?  Unlike real life, we can log out of the web, the forum, whatever.  We can push ourselves back from the screen and immediately, we can become absorbed in real life

On the street, in the workplace, at school, at parties and gatherings, it's not always possible to close down an argument/disagreement/slanging match.  Because in real life, we're physically there with our face red or white, our eyes blazing, possibly.  And often there are witnesses, albeit unwilling ones, all of which compels many to retort in order to save face

A confrontation in public might lead to our becoming physically attacked and may threaten family and friends

But on internet, we're safe.  We're anonymous and far removed from physical threat.  We can step away from the screen and source of aggravation to clear our head or end the discussion on our own terms.  How much easier could it get ?

Or, are there still those who expect the entire world to treat them with kid gloves as if online fora were a little sandpit complete with mod-police to ensure Little Preciousness shouldn't be offended - with Little Preciousness alone as judge of what is 'offensive' ?

Good grief, when I was a kid, we despised dobbers.  The Americans even coined a phrase for it:  ' If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen' --- remember ?

They coined a few others, come to think of it.  They're pretty good at encapsulating contemporary wisdom and exporting their pithy pearls to the rest of the world.  ' Get over it ' -- ' Build a bridge' - 'Whatevuh'

Seem a reasonable little selection appropriate to this thread ?  One's bound to fit ...

Feel free to ignore me, remember, if what I have to say annoys you

but who decides what constitutes 'the wrong thing' ?  You ?

Looks like you're really digging your hole here

ever considered going for a walk and getting blood to the brain instead of provoking others so you can complain about them ?

Or -- let's try another tack:  what went wrong for you today ?  Wanna talk about it ?  Because  truthfully, it makes sense to sort out one's issues rather than attempt to transfer them onto others who have problems of their own, many of which would dwarf yours very probably

On the other hand, you could instead take a look at your post and the three exclamation marks placed there to make a POINT and maybe to get ATTENTION or maybe simply in an attempt to PROVOKE

Anyway, I'm going to ignore you, as the nice mod advised us to do  Cheesy

Doesn't mean I'm going to refrain from posting of course.  Just means you're wiped from my radar screen.  We'll exist in parallel universes

Knock yourself out mate.....I have no idea who you are and do not care to have a pissing contest with anyone.....The posters I am referring to will be dealt with if I deem it necessary....That is my choice not yours.....enjoy!!!

I don't really mind the abusers who offer nothing.

Imagine how difficult it would be if everyone was making strong arguments against your points all the time.

The guys who just insult you only really strengthen your position and undermine there own credibility.

That would be me. You are right that people can just walk away, but if that is the extent of the response then the kiddies will destroy the value of this forum.

There is nothing wrong with people using three exclamation marks or 'provoking' others. This is a good thing. Just make it about politics and not yourselves.

Are you are referring to my use of the word in regards to you hounding other posters away with constant abuse?

Well it was in great big letters, & I apoligized for it's use within the same post, not to you in the context it was used it fits, but to other posters.

I'm sure more than 1 mod saw the thread, in fact it's still on this page, so I assume they must agree.

As Moderators, I assure you, there is no way that we can look at every post.

That said, if I do see a post with any F's or C's, I will take action!

Can you give us a link dsmithy?

An apology within the same post is kind of hollow.
