thats up the ranges and very cold.(famous for its apples/wineries/towns named after WW1 battles)
i'm just near beaudesert , so good city/country mix.
Beaudesert is like penrith is to sydney and starting to become outer suburbia. Local high school has 3000 kids now .

There are so few places in Sydney you can live on land and be within a reasonable distance of the city. Probably Camden to the south or Kurrajong to the NW.

Our neighbours moved to .currumbin valley a few years ago and b their face book pics seem happy on their 5 acres.  Also about 20 mins to the beach which would be my preq. Any of you Qlders share any thoughts on currumbin valley?

beautiful country and , like you say, close to the gold coast and only 40 minutes to brisbane .  getting a bit dearer now.   each valley you go west from currumbin gets a little drier.  currumbin, then numinbah, cannungra, kerry valley, christmas creek valley, then onto boonah (fassifern valley) the round to the brisbane valley at esk, then you start heading north again.

currumbin would be the dearest,  my valley is pure farming and you cant sub develop , minimum lot size is set at 200 acres , but there are some weird set ups.

i have a neighbour who has 4 kids and they all have built a house on his 200 acre block, they have power and water running all over the place,  if anyone tried to sell, the legalities of trying to sort out this ramshackle mess would keep solicitors and council planners employed for weeks

I lived on Pitt St in the Miramar building back in the mid-90's. Good memories of that time.

...

It must have had a nice view but I can't recall it at all.

Jesus, it was full of Asians even back then. I can only imagine the stink of kimchee and chicken feet now.

Yes, boys and girls, i've been at it again...

Here I am with Beyer-Garratt AD6029, one of the largest operating
steam locos in the world, and the largest in running condition in the
sthn hemisphere. She has 3 sisters, none of which are operational.

She's in town for the weekend hauling a heritage carriage set from
the 1930 on runs of around 60km in distance and around an hour
in duration. Tickets were $30, and my Men's Shed did a roaring
trade with a sausage-sizzle on the platform. Smiley

I rode on the train this arvo - very nice.

Oh, BTW - anyone know who we can thank for this magnificent
machine being still in existence and preserved today?

It was Gough Whitlam...
