Nice shot, Wolseley!

Love the old brake-van (Guard's van) behind the loco - spent many an hour on them
when I was a young freight Guard.

I was recently walking thru Darling Harbour with a mate who is considerably younger
than myself. I made a casual comment along the lines of, 'You know, this place would
make a fantastic rail freight hub...'.

No, he didn't 'get' it.

And, on the subject of Darling Harbour, in case you missed it, here is a photo taken in December of 1969 (I think)  that I posted here a while ago:

St Andrews Cathedral during the construction of Town Hall Square shopping arcade.  Scanned from a slightly faded 35mm colour slide.  I can't remember when I took it but it was probably around 1972 or 1973.

I used to work for the Gu'mint in St Andrews House right behind that..... but my favourite was QANTAS House......... (hint, hint for those with any idea)......

I learnt to drive in a Wolseley.  Beautiful car it was.  Very comfortable.

Very comfortable indeed.  Although (assuming you are Australian) the steering would have left a bit to be desired as far as accuracy was concerned.  The steering of the 15/60, and it's peculiarly Australian descendant, the 24/80, was of the rather antique variety of cam and peg steering (very much from the Austin side of the BMC heritage rather than Morris, which was the more modern rack and pinion).  A couple of years ago, I took my 15/60 to the local mechanic for a pink slip.  They said that they would pass the car but warned me that the steering would be an issue next year.

The steering box and suspension had been rebuilt a few months before but, what the **** if I had left it any longer I would have needed a blue slip rather than a pink slip, so I said thank you and goodbye.....
