this is a japanese garden in cowra built on next to the remains of a japanese POW camp from ww2

...

during ww2 a bunch of japanese POWs there attempted a mass breakout

it was more or less a suicide mission where they just ran towards machine gun nests

they built a cemetery for them at the cowra cemetery

...
...
...
...

i was amazed at just how old so many of them were

A new pic, taken today, of "the boys"

Fionnlagh?  Is that a Scottish version of Finlay? How would you spell that phonetically Buzz?

Cowra is definitely worth a look, sweet as military museum there too as well as the ruins of the POW camp. It's really just a really nice little NSW country town.

You certainly have an eye for the subject, imp.

Actually ALL of you do.

I am getting about 300 shots to the card on my camera and am lucky to get one, maybe two, as good as these.

Most of our pics are on t'other laptop, but after seeing these I will have to see what I can find.

I like these two though.

The 1st is a sunset from the front step, taken recently.
The 2nd was taken in The Domain.

Can't match yours, imp, but thought you might like this.
I remember staying a Warracknabeal as a kid, more than 60 years ago.
I don't know when this was taken, but I don't think the station has changed since.

And one from the main street for my special friends here. I've taken all of these with my phone, so don't expect perfection:

It was so great. We get a house there every year. Last year there were heaps of blue bottles and it rained, but this year it was just gorgeous.

That walk led to a tea lake - have you ever been swimming in one? There was a rope on a tree right out where it's a bit deep and we all took turns swinging off it.

The whole area is beautiful. You can feed wild dolphins not far away from there too.
