Two Companies Fined For Industrial Accidents.
May 28th, 2011 at 6:50pm

Two New South Wales Central Coast companies have been fined 200-thousand dollars, after a man lost his foot in a serious accident on a Charmhaven construction site three years ago.

In January 2008, 32-year-old Scott Mant's legs were crushed by a large concrete precast machine, after he was asked to investigate why it wasn't working properly.   Sad

He got caught in a conveyor belt, which eventually resulted in the amputation of his left foot.

Mr Mant has since undergone 13 operations to insert pins and plates into his legs.

A Workcover investigation found staff training on how to operate the machine was inadequate and the risk to the victim's safety was forseeable.   Sad

BCP Holdings has been fined 80-thousand dollars while Beresford Concrete Products faces a 120-thousand dollar fine.

Both companies have been ordered to pay Workcover's legal costs.
