First it was a shootout and then it was he was shot twice "double tapped" was the expression. Then it was once and using his wife as a human shield with both killed. Then it goes to he was unarmed and his wife wasn't used as a shield and shot in the leg. This is all with a couple of dozen heavily armed,elite, well rehearsed military forces personal with state of the art equipment and all the while streaming video back to the USA. They don't show the body and in any case with a headshot it will be probably certain that identification will be at best inconclusive. Then what do they do? They take samples for DNA and dump the body at sea, later this was buried in accordance with muslim tradition at sea. Making it impossible to verify the death idependently.

I doubt very much that they would have killed him with that sort of firepower and planning and gave up the opportunity to question him at great length somewhere quiet and away from any attention or interference, so not Cuba, and most likely kill him at the end of the enquiry. If he is thought dead, without any chance to be questioned, any networks and links will be less likely to go to ground. That would make the most sense.
No doubt some poor sod with a strong resemblance, will, or has been shot in the head, for the greater glory of the USA because they will eventually have to produce photos or some other evidence. But I don't believe for a second it will be Bin Laden at least untill they have finished with him.

Correcting the previous version of events, Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, said that "some of the information came in piece by piece and is being reviewed and updated and elaborated on".

He then said that two al-Qaeda couriers were killed on the first floor of the main, three-storey building where bin Laden lived. In addition, a woman was killed "in the crossfire" on the ground floor.

When the US Navy SEAL assaulters reached the second floor, a woman, later identified as one of bin Laden's wife, "rushed" a SEAL and was "shot in the leg but not killed". He confirmed that bin Laded was "not armed".

The assault team, with bin Laden's body, then departed by helicopter to the USS Carl Vinson in the northern Arabian Sea.

Mr Carney said that the White House was still "making an evaluation" about whether to release "gruesome" photographs of bin Laden's corpse, adding that there were "sensitivities here in terms of the appropriateness".

Where is the wife who was shot in the leg but not killed? did they bury her at sea with hubby? did they leave her in the mansion to find her own way out? is she still crawling around looking for help? is she in a Pakistani hospital and if so why are there no media reports....knowing what the Pakistani media is like.

If they flew her to the US why haven't they produced her for evidence?
