Ron Walkers son gets regular Formula 1 contract

Yes Ron Walkers son Campbell Walker who is CEO of Urban Maintenance Systems gets a nice little contract each year courtesy of Victorian Tax payers. I can now see what Ron means when Victorian businesses benefit from the F1 Grand Pricks Wink

So Victorian tax payers fork out 50 million or more to create make believe jobs that only benefit a select few individuals with vested interests. I'd like to know what the selection criteria is Wink

Urban Maintenance Systems is proud of it?¡¥s association with the Australian Formula 1TM Grand Prix. Having been involved in every event since the move to Melbourne in 1996, UMS is currently into its fourth long term contract with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.

I met Ron Walker a few years ago in Bistro Thierry's restaurant in Toorak.

He is a top bloke. Honest, forthright and loves the formula one and sport.

Good on him.

Nothing inappropriate about Walker's race contracts

Grand Prix boss Ron Walker's son says there is nothing inappropriate about the contracts it has with the Formula One race.

Campbell Walker is the owner and executive director of Urban Maintenance Systems (UMS), which is contracted to remove fencing at the Melbourne track.

The chief executive officer of UMS, Sam Furphy, says Campbell Walker joined the company three years after it first won a contract to work with the Grand Prix.

"We work in the competitive tendering market. So everything we do is about being as competitive as we possibly can be," he said.

"I've got no question that if we can't demonstrate best value to the Grand Prix Corporation they'll simply take it off us."

Mr Furphy says there is nothing inappropriate about the contracts.

"We certainly do not gain any advantage between the relationship of Campbell and his father Ron Walker."
