Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd's go soft policies have directly caused this latest incident of boat people dying whilst trying to get to Australia.
The death toll well over 200 in the last 3 years which is a massive difference to Howard's last 6 years under the Pacific Solution of zero.

No. The rough sea, the boast smashing on the rocks, which resulted in people falling into the sea and having water going into their lungs thus halting their ability to breath, "directly caused" this latest incident.

You've clearly been crushed by superior reasoning. Calling me a troll is a pitiful attempt to deflect.

The Rudd government were warned and the Gillard government were warned, and what did they do? Julia Gillard made the honeypot even more enticing to encourage the illegal boat people to come to Australia.
Julia Gillard's soft approach and 'welcome signs' lured these people to their deaths.
There hadn't been any deaths in the six years prior to the Rudd government, now there's been over 200 deaths.

It was ALWAYS going to happen.
And it WILL happen again unless Julia Gillard changes her policy.
And Julia Gillard won't change her policy, so get used to seeing these deaths on the front page and on the news bulletins.

Julia Gillard's response has been 'let's not talk about it', and 'it's too soon".
So when shall we talk about it, when isn't it 'too soon'.
Most likely Julia Gillard wants people to forget this over Christmas and then maybe sometime when Parliament resumes in 2011.
Meanwhile more boats can arrive any day.

If Gillard can be blamed for an occurrence 100 times removed from the event in question, then Bolt can equally be blamed for the deaths of innocents in Iraq.

See by weakening boarder control, and making this avenue more appealing to those unprepared to follow standard/legal immigration protocol, she's effectively made a rod for hers and our backs.

She took the passive approach to boarder security, rendered it a free-for-all, and now as a result these people are dead.

Undecided Clearly it's unsafe to immigrate this way, so why haven't we taken steps to stop it?

Julia Gillard will continue to do the wrong thing and Julia Gillard will continue to allow the illegal boat people to arrive, and Julia Gillard will continue to add to the honeypot luring illegal boat people to put their lives at risk.
The solution was made with the Stop The Boats Pacific Solution.
And it's only been since Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard took office that the problem has arisen.

she also promised then training, gave them acommodation, food, clothing, health care, net access ..........

may as well wave the "Come-on-over-we-are-tools" flag

Which is what Julia Gillard has already set up with the family and no detention centre approach.

Julia Gillard would rather continue to allow people to put their lives at risk than admit that they were wrong and open up Nauru.
In fact that should have been one of Julia Gillard's first responses to this tragedy.

...and the history of xenophobia is rich with creeps who dolled up their barbarism as a humane sympathy for the very people they sought to oppress.

Since our colonial inception, Australia has been a home for the wretched, the unfortunate and the brave, those courageous enough - or stupid enough - to find themselves leaving it all behind in the pursuit of a life on the other side.

Firstly, with about 140 different cultural/racial groups in Oz the correct word is xenomania.

Wouldn't it be odd if the perception that we are all racists is the result of bringing into our country people of other races. Aren't our social engineers fond of saying they have changed Australia? They may have made us more racist than we ever were.

So 28 people die and you comment on it by putting a smiley face at the end of your sentence.

Wow. You are one sick puppy.
