Clarke is playing (clearly injured) because I think he believes with the maelstorm about him needing to be dropped etc that if he goes out of the team now he may not get back in.

Saying that, it was like watching a slow death with him.

He was clearly out with the inside edge, he rode that luck by the skin of his teeth. He was beaten around off-stump about 4 times and he was nearly caught.

His innings was a shambles and you'd think if he doesn't score in the 2nd innings, the Australian selectors have a discussion ahead of them that they'd rather not have.

We have a huge morning ahead.
If we can get either or both of Hussey and Haddin out we could rattle through the bowlers and end up level pegging going into the second innings.

If we don't get them out, there is a danger of 150+ runs deficit here.
