A year ago Turnbull was the opposition leader and Rudd's approval rating was 70%. The possibility of Abbott as opposition leader was unthinkable. The Coalition returning to office at the next election was also unthinkable.

Now both Turnbull and Rudd are gone and Abbott is much closer to victory than anyone would have imagined a year ago. Win or lose, Abbott deserves recognition for coming this far in such a short time.

Lets not forget that he claimed the scalp of a sitting PM without an election. Apart from an election win, you don't get much better

Labor is polling 9% behind the Libs on the two party preferred vote, so she would actually be a parasite - feeding off the Greens. Abbott, obviously the better prospect in the eyes of the electorate !

That's what we should be voting for, not on someone's looks. That's what Gillard is there for.
