Political Compass OzPol Thread
Jun 18th, 2010 at 6:56pm

It's been done on every political forum on the internet, but let's do it here (again, if it has already been done before) Post your compass image result.

Also, I know this quiz isn't that great and many of the questions are directly from the F-Test and the Authoritarian Personality, but it's the best we have got.

http://www.politicalcompass.org/test

http://www.politicalcompass.org/facebook/pcgraphpng.phpec=-2.75&soc=5.03

When we're all done, I'll put all our scores into one big composite image.

Hmm .. I need to sit this test again because something's not quite right here  Undecided

I basically got the same result as Imperium .. and yet I KNOW I am a right wing conservative Liberal voting woman.

Perhaps this time .. I'll sit the test WITHOUT the added distraction of chatting on Yahoo IM and Facebook lmao Smiley

My score was very socially right wing; it was just economically somewhat left wing.

Also, try to post your actual chart scores. I want to make a composite image and it'll be harder if you just post your numerical details.

Someone on the Yahoo boards once called me a 'Watermelon' - green on the outside, red within!

It was intended as an insult, but I'm happy to wear the 'Watermelon' badge, with pride even!

I have a feeling that that's partially a problem with the test itself. Many of the questions that indicate an authoritarian/economically right orientation are of the kind that VERY FEW people in society would agree to. Others are directly lifted from the F-test and the Authoritarian Personality (like the odd questions about Abstract art and the 'fusion of information and entertainment'). Other questions, like these, few would agree with;

'If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations.'

Most people would immediately disagree, even though I don't think those that would would see the matter as that simple.

'Our race has many superior qualities, compared with other races.'

This one I would assume puts you up the authoritarian scale a lot. Nobody would agree with it (I put strongly agree, even though I don't think the matter is as simple as the question is worded)

That is how Darwin's theory works.

can acquire better traits.
Look at Obama - crossed genes made him brilliant but
I know that is anecdotal.

I could!

Because the basic premise of Globalisation, is definitely not inevitable.

In fact, it is absolutely inevitable that Globalisation will fail, so the question of whether it SHOULD primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations, IS ENTIRELY MOOT!

Why? Perhaps you should start a new thread on this one.

The basics reasoning is already in the bowels of the thread on The Future, in the post -
What is the Motor of the World and why is it stopping?

In short, it is now & has been for say 15-20 years, economically cheaper to outsource all sorts of MANUFACTURING & SERVICES, to  parts of the planet, where labour could be sourced at a much lower rate.

However, particularly in the manufacturing area, this situation will end & be reversed, as Energy (Oil) becomes more expensive and eventually less of it is available.

As this new paradigm evolves, the lower labour rates will be offset by higher Energy costs/availability problems and as that situation reverses, manufacturing & agriculture will become more local & less Globalised, as that will become more economical.

Save some out of left field Innovation, on a New Energy source, we will steadily revert to local economies!

Well I can't see how any one would disagree with the first statement...

Globalisation SHOULD serve humanity, rather than corporations...

And as for the second...Why should one race have 'superior' qualities, compared to any other????

This is what we've got so far. We still need more older members to weigh in with their results and some of the newer members to post their actual charts, as I can't properly represent their scores in the grid without their images.

So far, the awards are:

1) Biggest iron-fisted little dictator award: Imperium
2) Greediest, most heartless capitalist award: Soren
3) Biggest economic fence-sitter award: Muso
4) Biggest social fence-sitter award: bobbythebat1
5) Biggest lunatic at the gates of the Winter Palace award: Annie Anthrax
6) Biggest stinky unwashed flower child award: dsmithy70

I assume Annie may have took home two offensively titled Imperium Political Oscars if she had different opinions on the death penalty.

Most people would immediately disagree, even though I don't think those that would would see the matter as that simple.

Why would most disagree with that statement?

Maybe you're right, but I don't know. Corporations have very few apologists from my experiences.

So then they'd mostly agree, wouldn't they?

The statement was IF economic globalisation is inevitable, it SHOULD primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations

Who would disagree with that?

I could!

Because the basic premise of Globalisation, is definitely not inevitable.

In fact, it is absolutely inevitable that Globalisation will fail, so the question of whether it SHOULD primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations, IS ENTIRELY MOOT!

The statement asks you to entertain the idea that economic globalisation is inevitable. Of course you may not agree with the premise, but that wasn't the point of the statement. Its like "IF the greening of the sky and the bluing of the grass is inevitable, then artistic realism should reflect that reality".

Granted that the questions offer options that many of us would never actually choose, as Helian said, all I can say is, me and Nelson Mandela were going down the pub when we met ghandi, and like three little peas in a pod, we decided instead to stick up for the underdog, and give the authorities the big raspberry.

Freediver,
I have just posted some additional info on the Future thread.

You may find the Richard Heinberg video's, in particular, relate to some of what I referred to above.

I know what heterosis is. Human races are not sufficiently inbred enough to benefit much, if at all, from hybrid vigour.

Barack Obama's mixed genes did not make him 'brilliant' (if he is even brilliant; that statement is not substantiated by anything conclusive). His father is an extreme outlier of his cohort and his mother is a white (wacko) with a PhD.

I don't know how you can state that hetereosis has made mixed race people brilliant. That statement is disproven just by looking around the world today.

All the mixed race people I know are very intelligent & physically strong.
I know that's anecdotal & would require scientific proof.

Who are you associating with?

Would you call most Aboriginals 'very intelligent'?

Why are Latin American nations such pestholes?

Many different people - some are half casts.
Half Asian half Anglo.

If half casts they would be.

Because they have not benefited from a larger gene pool.
That proves my point.

rofl

You realize they're probably very intelligent for a very obvious reason other than that they're mixed race, right?

Quote:
If half casts they would be.

How many Aboriginals without admixture have you met in your life? I'm sure I could count them on one hand.

So from this, why are there achievement gaps that we're constantly being reminded of?

Quote:
Because they have not benefited from a larger gene pool.

What?

Latin America is the most miscegnated region on the planet. Three major human races have come together there to create many populations that are so differentially admixed that they are very difficult to categorize. The most successful and intelligent people from Latin America are unmixed Europeans and unmixed Japanese Brazilians.

Imperium - you sound like a Hitlerite.

The idea of a master race is scientifically wrong.

The best progeny are made from mixing genes.
This is a fact & is why Hitler was wrong.
