It's a gigantic Cecil Rhodes (in the same tradition as the Colossus of Rhodes) towering over the entire continent of Africa. It symbolizes British dominion over the entire region, from 'the Cape to Cairo'. It's a fantastic image brimming with white cultural self-confidence, the very thing that makes the blood of liberals the world over boil with rage.

In short, it's very me.
