Enough flaming and general disrespect.
Is there anyone with ideas on how we can improve these situations?

Hi frag,
How are you ?
What situation do you want to improve ?

To improve most situations, I suggest a massive depopulating of the globe.
By about 30% should do.

30% is a good figure, and it should be from those people who consume most global resources. But the question is  - how?

muso - those that consume most of the resources also are the most advanced and intelligent.

Not a good idea to wipe those out.
What about the most backward and dumbest?

The answer will always be wrong if the assumptions are wrong.

There are two schools of thought -

(a) naive kumbaya thoughts which believe that if we are just 'nice' to everyone, they will immediately respect our values customs and beliefs, and that no matter what they believe beforehand, as soon as they arrive and step off onto the tarmac, they will immediately respect, women, democracy, equality, and the rule of law and be productive citizens loyal to this country; or

(b) the above is a load of crap.

And never the twain shall meet.

Dude will you get off your hobby horse about atheists. When atheists are crashing planes into buildings or blowing up subway stations, I might be interested. But at the moment, they so don't matter. We have bigger things to worry about.

Fragmachine,

I take it that you are talking specifically about the 'flaming and general disrespect' on this forum?

As much as i dislike the abuse, of the forum, by some 'contributors' here, i [personally] would not ban anyone.

Freedom of speech, and freedom of expression, is far too important [....in my opinion].

Their irresponsibility, and the abuse of their right of free speech and freedom of expression, by some individuals, is a reflection upon those particular persons.

What anyone prints, and expresses here, reflects directly upon themselves...
  • their general point of view [on many life issues],
  • [others, perception of] their maturity,
  • and often exposes, for all to see, the measure of their [real] respect for the rights of others, to express an opinion when it differers from their own opinion. [And it always amazes me how many people [on forums such as this] claim that they believe in the right of free speech, and the right of freedom of expression, but cannot bear to be offended themselves, and clearly, from their comments you can see that they would instantly gag those 'others', who express an opinion, or point of view, which offends THEM.]

Don't get me wrong, i would like to see something positive done about the 'flaming and general disrespect' on this forum.

But i can't imagine what could be done, without abandoning the PRINCIPLE, of the right of free speech, and the right of freedom of expression?

TRUTH, is not, is never, offensive.
Lies [purveyed as TRUTH], and deception, in an environment of censorship, often are.

Yadda

There is no justice, without free and open TRUTH.

And in the societies of men, there is no peace, without justice.

Do you want peace?

Protect the right of free speech, and the right of freedom of expression.

In an environment which respects the PRINCIPLE, of the right of free speech, and the right of freedom of expression,
....when men speak, then what is TRUTH, and what is lies, and deception, will become apparent.

And that is an 'environment', which every tyrant hates.

Who cares what she's talking about, if she doesn't like it she shouldn't post here.

Nothing pisses me off more than a newbie waltzing in and trying to take over the place.

Perhaps, as much as it lies within each of us, just try to ignore, and do not respond to those who flame, and disrespect others [and ourselves]?

But i'm open to other suggestions.
