That would have been my advice to them. Unless they can prove, or at least support that she is an illegal immigrant, she had the right to be walking around. You cant go and collect every insane dribbling person and call them an illegal immigrant until the prove otherwise..the burden of proof is on THEM, not her. She doesn't have to prove anything.

The ancient writ of habeus corpus, which is still available in the Supreme Court (and had anyone known she was in there could have brought it) requires the agency or person detaining another to come before the Court and prove why they can be lawfully detained and if not they are let go.

That's how it works. It's not a matter of being able to disprove she is an illegal immigrant, its a question of proving she is. And if they take the risk that she is detained at pleasure indefinitely, then they are prepared to take the risk that they pay her a bundle.
