Open dialogue and debate cannot be maintained on the Islam forum, that is why you see Islamic topics pop up on other forums and on the main board.

jordan484,

Thank you for your support.

And, you said it well.

+++++

MY COMMENT....

Perhaps some of my posts would be better suited on an 'ISLAM' board.

But it is clearly not possible to have a free and open debate on the ISLAM board, without abu being offended.
....and, i am clearly not welcome there.
....[i have received PM from abu, to that effect.]

Personally i feel that if  debate within posts is uncomfortable, it should be!!!

That is the point of debating, complaining, EXPOSING falsehood, lies, deceit,
....on any forum.

Dictionary,

forum = = a meeting or medium for an exchange of views.

bigot = = a person who is prejudiced in their views and intolerant of the opinions of others.

OPEN DISCUSSION IS GOOD - FOR ALL.

AIRING INFORMATION WHICH IS CLEARLY TRUE [or which at least which challenges perceived 'stereotypes' ] IS GOOD - FOR ALL.

I would suggest, that if the detractors [of certain comments] on the ISLAM board, such as abu, have a legitimate complaint, then let they should air it [in the forum], and have their complaint tested in debate!
.....FOR ALL TO SEE!!!!

Is it unreasonable, to let the forum guests judge, if the points i try to make have any credibility??

And THAT, is the whole point of having debate in a forum - i would have thought.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS SELF REGULATING

Open societies do not fear the opinions of fools.
....they rather, EXPOSE and laugh at folly!

In any free and open debate, if a 'position' is absurd, if an 'argument' is absurd,
...then the debater is [often] condemned [within a forum] to all, WITH HIS OWN WORDS.

And that result [i.e. the exposure of folly] is THE VERY FUNCTION, of free and open debate.

Free and open debate *is meant* to be A CONTEST OF IDEAS!
....where every folly is revealed, and ridiculed.

And open debate is healthy, to all general freedoms in a society.

Whereas, lies are easily concealed in closed societies,
....*because* these closed societies are places where lies, and falsehood,
....ARE NEVER EXPOSED TO SCRUTINY, OR SPOKEN TRUTH.

The only funny thing is you think you are unbiased.

I think F/D is quite unbiased.

The last time he banned someone was a LONG time ago and well merited.
he has pulled me up a few times.

Gaybriel,

Err, would you like to clarify your comment for me.

Are you suggesting that i post freely on the ISLAM board?

Because that is incorrect.

I have been requested by abu not to post there, and i have been threatened with a ban.

I am sorry if abu does not like the opinions i express about ISLAM.

But they are MY opinions.

But deleting my posts [because my opinions about ISLAM offend him], is anathema to free and open debate.

abu may disagree with my opinions, and say that such opinions are untrue.

But if he feels that, shouldn't he make that argument IN THE FORUM against any points i present.

And allow those ppl who frequent the forum to decide for themselves if my arguments have any merit [or not].

But what abu is doing is saying,
...."That is untrue. And i won't allow such views to be exposed here."

Gaybriel,

TRUTH doesn't live in darkness.

TRUTH lives in the light.

If what i say is untrue, that, will soon become apparent to everyone, when what i say is exposed to the light of scrutiny.

In his actions on the ISLAM forum abu, has said that he prefers the 'darkness'.i
