Yes FD - for the whole day yesterday - it said that the site owner didn't have enough bandwith.   In cyberspace - do you delete old threads, to make more room or do you have to buy more space?

This is quite fascinating - I thought cyberspace went on for infinity.  Smiley

You had allowed the forum to use up its quota and the site was locked by the hosts for the full day.  The only message was that Oceans pointed out - that the owner had used all his 'bandwidth'.

You have to wonder who owns cyberspace and how they can sell it on to individuals and companies in apportionments.  It's obviously complicated.  Maybe this subject should be in "technically speaking".

Someone needs to explain it to those of us not technologically minded.

I have to apologise as I did not get online at all yesterday.

Google doesn't host the site, it just runs the ads that you see. Was the message just contained in the ad boxes, or did it prevent the entire site from working? How do you know the message was from google? Did anyone save a copy of the message?

If I forget to pay the hosting account, or our bandwith goes up by a factor of about 7, then the host may stop access to the site. These are the people that make the content avaiable via computers hooked up to the internet. It could have been something to do with the hosting account if the settings from the old host were carried over to the new account. I'll chase that up.

No it wasn't from Google, it was a message from the hosts that you had used all your bandwidth.  This was the message -

Quote:
Error 509

Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.

One other thing that could cause it:  If there are too many people accessing the website/too many requests at a given time,  then it will also do the same thing, provided that the traffic is more than the bandwidth allocated to the website.

So by continuing to try to access the website if you see that 500 error is only making it worse for that site and the site's owner, as you are only contributing to the problem at that point.  Wait a bit of time and come back later to see if the problem has improved.

BTW the IP for this site is 66.79.164.26 which is located on Managed Solutions Group, Inc.'s net block.  I would say if you see the problem again and fish guy ain't around to deal with it, try contacting techATmanagedsg-inc.com (replace "AT" with the @ symbol) and they may be able to look into it.
