i think freediver was trying to say that u guys consider the naming of Gallipoli mosque to be inappropriate.
which is ironic since u guys are hardly politically correct on these forums.

Think Australia and Turkey at the same time, not Turkey in isolation.
Gallipoli would be the first thing u think of.

The only thing wrong with this, is that you think it is politically incorrect.

Well that's the thing isn't it?

When it's me protesting about something like this... it's wrong... because I'm an Aussie and a majority

But when it's Muslims protesting about Christmas... it's okay... becasue they're Muslims and a minority.

They should make an exception for something like this... because it's an Australian tradition.

But let's not go on a tangent.

There were Muslim protests about it in Melbourne. About decorations in neighbourhoods.

I think the media was a little hush hush about it.

That's interesting, considering that Turkey wasn't involved in the Sept 11 attacks at all and it's government are not supporters of Al-Qaeda.

Doesn't change the fact that terrorists are recruited there and that there's serious Islamist support within Turkey.

that's not like the media, especially the Herald Sun/Daily Telegraph, they always write anti-muslim stuff in their papers.

i'm surprised Andrew Bolt didn't write about it in his blog.

do u have evidence to support ur assessment? if so, would be good if u could post some links.

as far as i'm aware, Turkey is the most secular muslim-populated country in the world. they had this guy called Attaturk who essentially separated church and state and removed most aspects of religion from daily life (e.g. there was a point where prayer calls were banned).

so if terrorists recruit from Turkey, chances are they are secular terrorists (if such a thing exists), rather than Islamic ones.

Excuse me? The Herald Sun is highly censored these days due to the introduction of anti-vilification laws in reaction to the Cronulla protests.

It may have been reported by talkback and local papers but ignored by the more prominent papers and broadcasters to avoid relighting the flames.

I don't think skeptic is a muslim... just someone who buys into the myth that muslims are only the way they are because of the way the media portrays them.

In both cases, it's about political correctness. Are you PC?
