Because they're using the Anzac spirit for political propaganda. Is nothing sacred?

Isn't it a place in Turkey? Of all the things to get upset about, this has to be the most petty. You don't see the Turks getting upset because they think they own the name.

Its an unpopulated region freediver. in the world of islam, mosques are only named after holy sites.

well, it was mentioned that the congregation have a Turkish background and they also live in Australia as well. So it makes sense to give the mosque a name that incorporates both Turkish and Australian aspects.

So to call it Gallipoli mosque seems like a natural choice.
It's not really an issue.

Turkey's a massive country and at the time, Skeptic, they were called the 'Ottoman empire' and was even larger.

These Turks could be from anywhere in Turkey and to suggest they in some way relate to the people from Gallipoli is absurd.

If they're from Gallipoli, fair enough, they should call themselves Gallipoli mosque... whatever... it's validated. What this is though is fake.

I didn't mean that the Turks that use to mosque are from Gallipoli.

I meant that since they have a Turkish background and are currently living in Australia, then the mosque should be named after something Australians and Turks have in common.

Gallipoli is the first thing that comes to mind, hence the reason i said it seems like a natural choice.

I guess we have to agree to disagree.

I don't think about the Anzacs when I see or hear about OTTOMAN'S... I think about smelly terrorists wearing towels, the numerous invasions of Europe and Eurovision song contest. Gallipoli is the last thing I think of.

The only thing wrong with this, is that you think it is politically incorrect.
