there is really good free speech here.
many things said here are un PC , but true.

Is it true that a mosque in syd is called Gallapolli ?  That is so off.

thanks guys.
Unfortunately I have found my feelings towards muslims at work have changed.
I am going to have to do something about it.  What ?
It is not good for my spititual life as it is.  I feel I have to have a chat with them over lunch, one to one.

What do you mean, 'have a chat with them?' I don't want you to go and do anything stupid Sprint... you're too nice a guy to be getting involved with Muslims and their issues. You may even lose your job over it... they may sack you for 'discrimation.'  Roll Eyes

What are you thinking of doing?  Shocked

But yeah... what we say on this site is politically incorrect... and you're right.. a lot of the times it's true.

Hmmm well... I'm confident without islam they'd at least act a 'little bit' better.

Why? Do we own the place name because a few of 'us' died there recently?

Well it seems to me that they're purposely using that name so that they look more 'Australianised' so to speak. I think it's a disgrace if Muslims are using Anzac vocabulary to disguise themselves as 'integrated.'

Before you ask, no freediver, I don't think they're from Gallipoli in Turkey.

It's a bit rpemature to get wound up over something when you know nothing about it, other than the name.

Freediver... can I just say we're not saying it's named 'Gallipoli' on purpose FOR CERTAIN... but you'd have to agree it's more than likely nothing other than to make them seem more 'Australian' and to connect the Muslim community to the Australian community.

You have to be the most stubborn, ignorant person on this board, freediver. I say that very honestly too... politics aside.

You just have no 'reason.'

How about basic scepticism? You have no reason either, yet you think there is somehow a justification for getting wound up before you even know what's going on. It's anti-muslim hysteria, that's all.

the congregation is half turkish.

and it was named to signify "the shared legacy of the Australian society and the community who built the mosque".

sounds like they were trying to suck up to me.

or perhaps they were shoving it in our faces hehe.

It was done as a propaganda piece, there is absolutely no reason to call it gallipoli mosque as it is only a peninsular with little settlement.
They did it to try and grab our attention and go ''awww''. NO it had the reverse effect....... Every Aussie i speak to about that mosque they all say they despise it.
