Where do you stand politically?
Apr 11th, 2007 at 2:11pm

Using the political compass: http://www.politicalcompass.org/ I'm interested to know where everyone stands politically. I find it curious that on this particular site the contributors aren't fractured directly down left/right lines, I think this is great by the way, but I'd like to know where everyone stands and what they think of the political compass method?

I scored:

Economics, -0.13 (pretty much dead center... tiniest bit of a lefty)
Social, -6.05 (very libertarian, stay away from my personal freedoms!)

Personally I think the political compass provides a good extra dynamic to the traditional left/right dipole and creates contrast in the important area of social opinion.

I got a

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.90

Oh no - says I am a lefty socialist !!!!

Thought I would have been more rightwing economically.
Some questions were very slanted though, some mis-worded also, I felt.

Maybe I just got some wrong ??   Smiley

Grin "got some wrong" good one Smiley

The questions are supposed to be slanted, they are probing your political predisposition by presenting you with politically charged topics in a specific way.

You look quite centrist to me sprint, however (forgive me for this) I do think that christian values are best represented by left wing economic policy, so I wouldn't be so suprised at your result. Don't carry your preconceived ideas of left and right into this either, many of those conservatives on the 'right' side of the fence are still quite left wing when it comes down to it. Read the stuff the site has in regards to definitions of left/right etc.

Interesting questions zoso:

I scored:

Economic Left/Right: -8.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.08

I'm not sure about the economic score - sounds like I'm a lefty socialist too - as if it wasn't obvious.

And Sprintcyclist - I knew you were one of us.  Smiley

Ha!  For what it's worth, according to the compass. I'm like Ghandi  Cheesy

Economic Left/Right: -5.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.44

pretty left wing economically, but thought I'd be more right wing with law and order. Some of the questions were terribly loaded though.

select smart
American Liberal followed by
Social Democratic

the advocates org

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 40%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 30%.

According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...

CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice.

Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind,

tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what

they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.

I'm in that corner too, But I am down between nelson mandela and the dalai lama.
Perhaps I should write and tell them, they may want to be penpals.

Left/Right                        -7.38 (who called me a loony leftie?)
Libertarian/Authoritarian   -4.92

I sure am happy I didn't get up in the opposite corner, their are lots of jerks up there, I would get into a blue for sure.

Yes mozza, being up there with Joe McCarthy, would be more shame than I could bare Grin Could do a lot worse than Mandella, Lama or Ghandi I reckon.. now if we can only renationalise Telsta and take it away from the overpaid underperforming clowns that are running it now, that would be a step in the right direction....Has that been a topic yet?

Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -9.08

Given that the majority of questions are...

Capitalism/Corporations are good/bad
X subject relating to religious bullshit is moral/immoral

Unless you're an idiot with no understanding about the world, religious or you're just a smacking scumbag I don't understand how you can't be in the bottom left section of the grid.
