Two convicted paedophiles, who plotted to kill a boy they had kidnapped as a sex slave, should not be allowed to spend their days together in prison, the West Australian opposition says.
"Just because it's not a husband and wife, it's two male paedophiles ... what is the difference?
"They should not be allowed to have an association with each other after being found guilty of these crimes."
A spokesman for Corrective Service Minister Margaret Quirk said Wheeler and Urquhart were being treated like all other prisoners.
"To suggest their relationship is continuing is quite incorrect because they do not share a cell. They are under a very high level of supervision."
The Department of Corrective Services released a statement saying it does not comment on the accommodation arrangements of individual prisoners.
"Prisoners in this category are in individual cells and are under very high supervision."

MySpace.com has found more than 29,000 registered US sex offenders with profiles on the popular social networking website, North Carolina officials say.
It was more than four times the number cited by the company two months ago, the officials said.
North Carolina's Roy Cooper is one of several state attorneys-general who recently demanded the News Corp-owned website provide data on how many registered sex offenders were using the site, along with information about where they live.
After initially withholding the information, citing federal privacy laws, MySpace began sharing the information in May after the states filed formal legal requests.

The Queensland government has criticised an opposition campaign to have the child sex offenders' register made public which has sparked fears of vigilante attacks.
The opposition will soon release a discussion paper flagging the idea of making the register public.
Reduced sentence for female sex offender

A 35-year-old Melbourne woman who had sex with a 15-year-old boy has received a reduced jail sentence because treatment is not available to female sex offenders in custody.
Bianca Aleida Smulders, 35, formerly of Pakenham, wept in the dock as she was sentenced in the Victorian County Court on Thursday to at least 12 months in prison.
Smulders had pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16, and was also charged with breaching an intervention order.
