stung

I got stung by something this morning. We think it was a bluebottle, but you don't normally see a reaction to bluebottle like this. There was a northerly blowing and there were one or two of them spotted by others.

But, seriously, can we blame Labor for this?

No we can't blame Labor, but we could blame the Liberals.  It looks just like a bluebottle sting - but each skin type reacts to it differently.

Definitely not Irukanji and you would be dead if it was Box Jellyfish.
Looks like a whip-lash from Annie Anthrax.
What aren't you telling us FD?

What first aid did you use FD? Hot water is the recommended treatment for most non - tropical marine animal stings.

More likely to die from Irukanji than box jelly.

Irukanji effects sneak up on you over a longer period.

Anyways as to FD marks on skin from bluebottle sting......

that's is a typical sign/after effect on many people.

And what's non tropical about Blue Bottles/Portugese Man O Wars.

And where did you get the "Hot Water" treatment advice?

I'd suggest hot water would make the stinging cells (nematocysts) shoot off even more.

Quote:
Treatment involves removing tentacles from the affected area carefully to prevent further envenomation, and application of cold packs or wrapped ice for relief of skin pain for 5-15 minutes. Seek medical advice if massive stings are experienced of if symptoms are severe.

I would take an Irukanji sting over a Box Jellyfish sting any day.

Also, Aquatic species live in a 'cold' environment - so 'hot' water is the best alleviation.
Land species live in a 'hot' environment - so 'cold' water (ice) is the best alleviation.
It's all about counter-reaction.

I feel that you have hastily googled the treatment for bluebottle stings and failed to read the entire reference carefully.  Roll Eyes

No 'dicknuts', Irukandji is one of 50 different species of box jellyfish

Quote:
Irukandji jellyfish (/ˌɪrəˈkændʒi/ IRR-ə-KAN-jee) are any of several similar, extremely venomous species of box jellyfish
