The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is based on the virus’s genetic instructions for building the spike protein. But unlike the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, which store the instructions in single-stranded RNA, the Oxford vaccine uses double-stranded DNA.

AZD1222 comes out of decades of research on adenovirus-based vaccines. In July, the first one was approved for general use — a vaccine for Ebola, made by Johnson & Johnson. Advanced clinical trials are underway for other diseases, including H.I.V. and Zika.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine for Covid-19 is more rugged than the mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. DNA is not as fragile as RNA, and the adenovirus’s tough protein coat helps protect the genetic material inside. As a result, the Oxford vaccine doesn’t have to stay frozen. The vaccine is expected to last for at least six months when refrigerated at 38–46°F (2–8°C).

The NMA wrote to news agency Bloomberg and confirmed that while most people have experienced the expected side effects of the vaccine, 13 deaths have been assessed and another 16 are being looked at for having been caused due to it.

As of Jan 18, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health had investigated 13 of the 23 reported deaths, and had not concluded that the vaccines were to blame. Camilla Stoltenberg, the head of the agency, told a news conference: “These are people who are very old, are frail and have serious diseases…It is not a given that this (the deaths) represents an overmortality or a causality.” (here)

1. THis is mostly like the case due to the fact we've never really had to. Most coronaviruses cause a cold, SARs largely self limited as an infection (8000 cases), MERS too has only had 2500 cases since its discovery.  COVID  has infects over 110 million people. Look at the numbers of infected people alone.

Add to no 5. Rubella- why do we vaccinate against rubella given encephalitis occurs in only 1 in 6000 cases and some of that could be fatal but not always.

It's a numbers game -
many people will get very sick or die  from the vaccines
but hopefully from a statistical point of view
many more would have died if they got Covid -
so we're better off with a vaccine - on average.

Interesting link... re: blood types ... I do recall reading about that last year at some point during the height of the Covid outcome...


Underlying all of this is of course our genetics, which includes our blood group. Interesting evidence emerged mid-2020 that people with blood group O (as opposed to A, B or AB) had significantly lower risk of severe COVID-19 disease. The reason for this is thought to be linked to the fact that blood group O individuals can develop natural antibodies that offer cross-resistance to other pathogens. This is likely a process that’s evolved through evolution to deal with the millions of gram-negative bacteria with pathogenic potential in the gut.

So I had thought... since “0” blood types are more common, hence less percentages of death RE: Covid-19.....

I then ask.... with this newer strain of UK Covid (which is supposed to be more deadly) why is it... that our returned travellers with this new strain that go into quarantine ... not dying?

Maybe they are all “O” blood types then???

Organisers estimate over 800 people have gathered to protest against COVID vaccines in Sydney’s Hyde Park today.

Pete Evans and anti-vax WAG Taylor Winterstein were expected among the protesters as part of a national rally against mandatory vaccines.

The protest will descend on all major cities in Australia today, with the Sydney event holding prizes for the best signs and children’s activities.

The event organisers said there were “no worries” because they had obtained a police permit for the protest.

“A police operation will take place in Hyde Park Saturday 20 February 2021, for a planned protest,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

“Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command have received a Form 1 from the event organisers.

“NSW Police supports the rights of individuals and groups to protest peacefully, and officers will be monitoring the group and ensuring they comply with current COVID requirements.”


Taylor Winterstein, a high profile anti-vaccine influencer and wife of former NRL star Frank Winterstein posted on Instagram her signs for the day.

“I plan to survive the coronavirus by doing the exact opposite of what the government and TV experts recommend,” one sign said. ::) ::)

The rally comes as Facebook banned all sharing of links from Australian news sites while allowing anti-vax and COVID denying pages to remain active.

people are still dying though  and I think that is the MAIN ISSUE...most countries have come to terms with what we have to do when it comes to preventing this from spreading.....like LOCKDOWN....

I think lockdowns work... in smaller doses...
We in Victoria had such a long lockdown last year....
But it worked.
I think many people have RE-evaluated what the new norm is.

At present, the status quo of uncertainties in my mind is
- Covid-19 infection is an uncertainty but seemingly low percentage of death. The verdict is still not out of whether lab made or bat made.
- Covid-19 vaccinations rushed but not 100% safe or proven.... the true verdict will be within this next 4- 14 months with reports (and hopefully true full ones) of how people react with it.

I’m only representing myself as I decide what to do.
I’m willing to wait. My choice.
I have a friend that does home care for infirmed/elderly... she is willing to lose her job because she does not want the jab.

There is a shift with people thinking of re-evaluation.

If I had a choice of a virus vs hasty vaccine.... knowing my immune system is good due to the lifestyle I have chosen to not smoke, drink, be a prescription junkie, cut down on sugar,  getting good sleep, drinking non-fluoride water, doing beneficial breathing activities (a book called “breathe” my daughter bought me)... doing a mild exercise activity like tai-chi...and talking/thinking positive (because your body cells are always listening - which brings me to wonder about the placebo groups getting symptoms)....
.... but what’s the point in all that?
If we are going to all feel coerced... pressured... etc to have to take the jab?

Are we allowed a choice? Yes... or not really?

yes you are.... but there are consequences....just like you have a choice to rob someone    if there were no consequences  we would have no law and order...

Maybe but not in the record numbers we are seeing now and for all we know those cases could have very well been caused by the vaccines we were injected with as kids.

The new coronavirus variant from California appears to be deadlier, spreads more easily, and could weaken vaccine efficacy.

Scientists labelled the strain as “the devil” after their alarming discoveries, The Sun reports.

The variant is called B.1.427/B.1.429 and was first spotted in California this winter.

It has been found in Denmark, Mexico and Taiwan.

As with any new variant, it contains new mutations which scientists were aware could give it an edge over the “original” strain of the virus.

They have been studying it closely with the first findings - which are not published in a peer-reviewed journal - causing concern.
