Plibersek will not run.  "Not my time."

That leaves it open for Albo.

Interesting

You've never heard of him yet presume him to be a nobody

or

do you mean that he's a nobody because you, Aussie, have never heard of him

You could clear it up you know

just tap into the news

Here we go

Quote:
Several Labor frontbenchers are sounding out support for a tilt at the party leadership, as officials meet to dissect the poor election result.
Anthony Albanese and Tanya Plibersek are contesting the ballot for the Labor leadership, with Chris Bowen also expected to throw his hat in the ring.

Opposition frontbencher Joel Fitzgibbon said the party had drifted too far to the left.
"We certainly have to get back to the centre and we have to reconnect to our working class base," he told ABC Radio National.

Mr Fitzgibbon suffered a big swing against him in the NSW mining seat of Hunter towards One Nation's pro-coal candidate.

Mr Fitzgibbon said the next Labor leader needed to drag the party back to the centre.
"Someone needs to indicate that they are the person who is prepared to put us back on track," he told ABC Radio National on Monday.
"And if someone's not prepared to do that, well, I might just do it myself."

fitzgibbon not 'fitzgerald(?)'

anyway, now you've heard of him

How am I supposed to know no existent people you refer to?

Fitzgibbon......no chance.  A lightweight.

I reckon they NEED Tony

must be fate that cast him loose just when Labor's oars fell off

Tony would turn them into a lean, mean, anti-climate change force to be reckoned with

and it would send Plibersek all aflutter

Go on Tones, do it.  It's your destiny

Whoever takes the Labor leadership must consider blocking supply if the Coalition continue their crooked path of crony corruption. The Coalition have been emboldened by Labor's historic refusal to take this extreme action to stop a bad government and it is time this was reviewed.

The first step is blocking any legislation that gives Palmer any government subsidy including any Budget. Palmer must not be rewarded for his oligarchic nonsense.

Would Albanese consider that tough measure? Would Bowen or any of the other possible contenders?

IMO his a Lib in Labor clothing
His brother runs NIB
He also nearly lost to ON 15% of his primary vote lost.

He reminds me too much of Joyce, his cut from the same cloth.

LABOR didnt just lose aussie   they LOST A LOT.... even those they won lost ground...

that means  not matter what they PROMISED...... and boy they did they promise a lot... ::)

the people more than rejected it...

even pliber says as much.....

heres what she said..

The Deputy Labor leader announced her decision today, saying she had support from across the party to be elected leader but "now is not my time".

"At this point, I cannot reconcile the important responsibilities I have to my family with the additional responsibilities of the Labor leadership," Ms Plibersek said.

"I know some people will be disappointed with this decision. I intend to continue as deputy leader until the leadership is determined."

Ms Plibersek said Saturday's election was "a blow for Labor supporters" and that the party needed to "take a serious look" at its policies.

But she backed Bill Shorten's efforts, saying: "Bill unified Labor and could not have worked harder to get us across the line."

The shock move came just a day after Mr Shorten endorsed her for the top job.

oh yes poisoned chalice for sure.

Because she probably doesn't want to take over the job so soon after a drubbing. It may impact on how people perceive her whilst things are hot. Better to let things cools and be prepared in a couple of years.

Cods.....no-one 'read' the thinking....including you.

Qld does not care about climate change in the context of Adani.  We care about jobs....jobs.....jobs.

Now...here is my caveat...my well-informed mail says Adani will not go ahead, and even if it does, it will not offer the number of jobs people expect.

Labor's dilemma sort of reminds one of the saying, "Searching through the bottom of the bird cage".

It will be more of the same with the unions in control and the LUNATIC EXTREMIST GREENIES sniffing around.

Labor will be in OPPOSITION for the next 20 YEARS.

How will Albo Sneezy shake off the extreme embarrassment of being sucked into the CLIMATE CHANGE SCAM which sunk Shorty ?

The LUNATIC EXTREMIST GREENIES will be desperately trying to keep their failed CLIMATE CHANGE SCAM in the headlights as it is the main plank in their rotting political platform.

ADANI will be getting ready to start digging luverly stored sunshine energy.

What would be real nice if ScoMo announced a new HELE clean coal power station in Nth Qld burning ADANI COAL.

Bob Brown is in the dog house after he wrecked Labor in Qld by taking all those looney Greenies up there and really pissing off the locals all over Qld.

I think GOD answered ScoMo's prayers to save Australia from the Socialist Fiends.

And Shorten's past is reappearing:- https://www.pickeringpost.com/2019/05/15/bill-shorten-rape-allegations-re-emerge/

Gotcha!!!!

I'm disappointed Tanya will not challenge for the leadership but I'm about 99% sure she'll be the deputy leader and the deputy PM in 3 years.

I live in her Sydney electorate and have met her many times, and she is just the most amazing switched on and wonderfully warm and caring person you could meet.

She'd make a brilliant PM.

1.  Can the franking credit attack.
2.  Endorse Adani.

If Adani is endorsed, it becomes the Coalition government's problem. They will own anything that goes wrong.

The biggest problem with Adani is the net number of new jobs will be close to zero. The proposed mine will use driverless trucks and this will cause a race to the bottom elsewhere. Within five to ten years, there won't be a coal mine anywhere in the country with truck drivers working in trucks.

And don't believe anything Adani says to the contrary. They are a criminal corporation, with numerous convictions for corruption and misconduct in a dozen countries around the world. They claimed the mine would create 10,000 jobs. In court, they were forced to admit that the actual number would be 1,800 at the most. And the actual number will be lower. A corporation with such a record cannot be trusted.

Like I said, if anything goes wrong, the Coalition will own it.

The muppets that the government has put forth for that role haven't been any better. Hockeidonian was a disaster, Morriscum wasn't any better, and Woodenberg has the charisma of a doormat and was their third choice.
