My niece and nephew are more Aboriginal that that pair of hucksters... and the lady next door's grandson is the same...  don't mention ignorance in the same breath as responding to me...

Liberal minister Ken Wyatt denies overtures to defect to Labor

Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt has emphatically denied he's been approached to switch to the Labor Party, and that he'd ever consider it.

"At no stage would I contemplate swapping from a coalition party, the Liberal Party," Mr Wyatt said.

"I would not cross over for any political expediency or for personal gain or benefit."

Mr Wyatt said he was committed to re-contesting his West Australia seat as a Liberal at the next election.

A newspaper report this morning said fellow indigenous MP, Labor's Linda Burney, had held secret talks with the minister about joining the ALP.

But Ms Burney also dismissed the speculation, describing it as a "flight of fancy".

The last major defection came when the Democrats' Cheryl Kernot joined the Labor Party, over 20 years ago.
