Title: new rule regarding signatures

You may not make negative references to other forum members in your signature. You are permitted to quote them and provide a link to the original post, but leave out their name. This means that you can not use the built in quoting tool, because it states the member's name.

I will give members with sigs in contravention of this notice of change 48 hours and if sigs are not changed voluntarily they will be removed when I see them or they are reported.

Just a question for freediver.  Is that invasion of the security of a Members personal profile okay with you, freediver?

There is nothing there that is personal. It contains your settings. Your sig is not personal, it's in every post, your nick is not personal, it's in every post too. We can not read PMs or anything like that, it's just settings. I can see more "personal" stuff like email and IP address by just clicking on your name like I do to send you PMs.

Once you have used your buttons to enter a Member's account, you can (if you were so minded) read everything.  You can change the password and have total control of the account.

I think it is far better and preferable policy that the GMods stay out.

If people do not change their sigs (as I have) then there are other ways to deal with it going well short of invading Member's personal profiles.

I could change your password, log in as you, and read everything but then how would you get back in? That'd be a pretty stupid thing to do, wouldn't it?

Nothing I can see is personal.

Edit: You have changed your sig but it does not comply with the rule, I suggest you fix it or just grow up and remove it and put something positive in it's place.

Is a signature asking everyone to 'Hail Caesar' appropriate?

This:

Quote:
Before you criticize Julius Caesar or Augustus Caesar, compare both of these leaders to contemporary dictators, and ask yourself: "who was more benevolent?"

....is your signature.

'Hail, Caesar' is part of your avatar.

Freediver I think you really need to read this article:

Ozpolitik front page -> freedom-speech-unpopular-people

This article will educate you on why it is important to allow free speech. You could really learn a lot from it.

Simply gagging those you disagree with will NOT sway others to your point of view.

The heavy hand of demagoguery and censorship will destroy a beacon of free speech like OzPolitik.

"Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship."

Why are you against this basic human right Freediver?

What is your agenda?
