why is it that the only people who are mods are people who are scarcely here and then over-react or react wrongly during the 5 mins that they are here?

From my short stint as a mod I can confirm that FD's idea of moderation is nothing like what you would want or expect. 'ineffective' is the criteria he wants and thus, gets.
