Well apparently it was "bath salts".

Last year in canberra I researched this drug because I suspected a relative was using it. You can just order it on ebay. Unless they have managed to make it illegal now. Not a good thing.

There was a drug that was popular (?) in the US in the 70s and early 80s, called PCP, or 'Angel Dust'.

It was actually a horse tranquilliser, and caused many bizarre incidents like this.

People walking into the homes of complete strangers, and killing them etc.

Not good. This sounds like something similar, but they didn't find anything.

Actually you have a point there. It could be something new that they dont know to test for yet. There are new (cheap) homemade drugs being invented all the time apparently. Bath salts was one of those.

Thanks to this incident I've had  couple of few long BS sessions with friends and coworkers involving the "Zombie Apocalypse" what-if scenario.  While I find such hypothetical fun to war game out, the Zombie Apocalypse isn't that scary if you happen to be an American.  Here's why...

Guns.  Lots and lots of guns.  Depending on whose statistics you use anywhere from 1/4 to 2/3rds of the US population own at least one firearm.  That's just the legal registered gun owners.  The BATF estimates that there are somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 million firearms circulating in the US, enough to arm about 85% or so of the population. 

As a side note, I actually put forth the idea of "are they holding a gun?  No?  It's probably a zombie, shoot it!" as an effecting rule of engagement in the event of a Zombie Apocalypse. This might not work out so well with the slightly smarter zombies in Romero's latest films (all of which are terrible), where the zombies start to show the ability to use tools, including firearms.  Sure, they're not very good shots, but it caused me to revise my Zombie Apocalypse RoE to "Is it holding a gun? No. Ok, is it displaying safe firearms handling?  No?  Then shoot it, it's either a zombie or a dumbass that shouldn't be handling guns anyway."

What this means is that a zombie outbreak here wouldn't last long. In fact, had the Florida incident actually been the case zero of a zombie outbreak the Apocalypse was ended when the responding officer put two into the zombie's dome.

Now, you guys down there in Australia...  Yeah, you're pretty much boned thanks to retarded firearms restrictions.

In closing, Guns=Good, Zombies=Bad. You don't want to support the Zombie Apocalypse, do you?
