SYDNEY (AFP) - Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard said she would be open to an inquiry into media regulation and ownership after the "disgusting" scandal engulfing News Corporation.

Australia's Greens party has called for a parliamentary review of the nation's media, in which News Corporation's boss Rupert Murdoch is a dominant player, adding to the pressure on his beleaguered global empire.

And lets all just thank our lucky stars we have a minority government that IS prepared to stand against the News Ltd juggernaut that controls SIXTY FIVE PER CENT of our media. No other government would and this country NEEDS  aradical overhaul of its media ownership laws. The rot has to stop. THIS, this is EXACTLY why I vote green.

Drop the fvckin' hammer on Murcocks wrinkled, corrupt smacking head. It's time to end News. Ltd's tyrannical control of our media.

they control 65% - but 65% does not matter

humans contribute at best 2% to carbon emissions and you reckon we can stop climate change by reducing the 2%

so just find a media outlet that control 2% of Australian media and you'll be able to control Australian media

Johnathon Holmes is the voice of reason here. The last thing we need is a government adjudicated media.

What really needs to happen is papers like the UnAustralian complying by News. Ltds own CODE OF CONDUCT.

Quote:
1.1 Facts must be reported impartially, accurately and with integrity.

1.2 Clear distinction must be made between fact, conjecture and comment.

1.3 Try always to tell all sides of the story in any kind of dispute.

poo, what part of the Aussie media has complied by those recently? I can't think of any.

it was the way she said.. if anyone would like to discuss it I am open to talking with them..

didnt sound like a PM at all..

I know its different but to see Cameron in the house yesterday what a diffference..

when they talk media look at the whole... the Cabnerra Press Gallery needs a good hard looking at...and I think the 50% off TV Licences after freebee holidays is also worth a look..

may not turn anything shady up.. but still it shouldnt happen.in my opinion.

Bob Brown's sock puppet knows which side of the bread is buttered.
She will do as she is instructed, eventually.
