American archaeologists discover 17 buried pyramids in Egypt

US archaeologists have used satellite imaging to discover 17 buried pyramids in Egypt, as well as a thousand tombs and 3000 buildings dating back to the time of the Pharaohs.

Some of the infra-red imaging, taken 692 kilometres above the Earth, showing entire street plans of ancient towns.
At least two of the pyramids have so far been confirmed by archaeologists digging on the sites located by the satellite, and the technique is being hailed as a major breakthrough in archaeological surveying.
The discovery gives hope to Egypt's struggling tourism industry. From the famous Pyramids of Giza to the Red Sea resorts, tourists numbers have plummeted to just a trickle this year following the ousting of president Hosni Mubarak.

While travel warnings remain in place for Egypt, the finds could help turn things around.
The extraordinary discovery, documented in a film to be broadcast by the BBC this week, "show us how easy it is to underestimate both the size and scale of past human settlements," said Dr Sarah Parcak of the University of Alabama.
Dr Parcak also used the same technique to identify tombs that had been broken into by looters during the chaos of the recent revolution in Egypt.
The technique picks out the more solid mud brick structures used by ancient Egyptian builders from the sandy terrain in which they are often submerged.
The cameras on the satellites are so accurate they can pick up objects less than a metre in diameter.
"These are just the sites [close to] the surface," Dr Parcak told the BBC.
"There are many thousands of additional sites that the Nile has covered over with silt. This is just the beginning of this kind of work."
Despite initial skepticism, the Egyptian authorities agreed to a trial excavation at the ancient site of Saqqara, just outside Cairo, which is already known for its so-called "step" pyramids, which predate the great pyramids of Giza, on the edge of the capital.
There they found two buried pyramids, and the Egyptian Antiquities Ministry now hopes to use the technique both for further exploration and to protect existing sites.
The imaging has been used to show the full extent of the street plan of buried areas of Tanis, once the capital of ancient Egypt.
The city, in the Nile Delta, was used in the original Indiana Jones film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, as the site dug up by the Nazis in their search for the Ark of the Covenant.
The satellite pictures pick out in extraordinary detail the houses and streets of the 'lost' city of the Twenty-First Dynasty.

Dr. Ray Brown's Subterranean Crystal Pyramid Experience


Allegedly in 1970, Dr. Ray Brown, a naturopathic practitioner from Mesa, Arizona, was scuba diving with friends near the Bahamas, in an area 20 miles from the edge of a submarine drop-off called the Tongue of the Ocean.

During the dive, Brown became separated from his companions, and in trying to rejoin them, suddenly saw a strange pyramid shape looming up against the aquamarine light. The pyramid was situated 22 fathoms down, stood 120 feet high, with only 90 feet projecting out of the sea floor shifting sands. Brown was at first struck by how smooth and mirror-like the stone surface of the structure was, with the joints between the individual blocks almost indiscernible.

Swimming about the capstone, which the Arizona diver thought looked like lapis lazuli, he discovered an entranceway and decided to explore further. Passing along a narrow hallway, Brown finally came to a small rectangular room with a pyramid-shaped ceiling. What was amazing was that the room contained no algae or coral growing on the inner walls. They were completely spotless.

In addition, though Brown had brought no flashlight, he could nevertheless see everything in the room perfectly. It was very bright and well lit, but no direct light source was visible. Brown's attention was drawn to a brassy metallic rod 3 inches in diameter hanging down from the apex of the center, and at its end was attached a many-faceted red gem, which came to a point. Directly below the rod and gem, sitting in the middle of the room was a stand of carved stone topped by a stone plate with scrolled ends.

On the plate rested a pair of carved metal bronze-colored hands, life-sized, which appeared blackened and burnt, as if having been subjected to tremendous heat. Nestled in the hands, and situated 4 feet directly below the ceiling rod gem point, was a crystal sphere 3-1/2 inches in diameter.

Brown first attempted to pry loose the ceiling rod and red gemstone, but neither would budge. Turning back to the crystal sphere he found it easily separated from the bronze hand holders, and left the pyramid with it. As he departed, Brown felt a presence, and heard a voice from somewhere telling him never to return.

Fearing that his unusual prize might be confiscated as salvage-treasure by the U.S. government, Dr. Brown did not disclose the existence of the strange crystal or his experiences until 1975, when he exhibited the crystal for the first time.

He displayed the crystal only a half dozen times, but each time witnesses have seen or have been sensitive to strange phenomena directly associated with it.

Deep inside the crystal form one gazes upon three pyramid images, one in front of the other, in decreasing sizes.

Some, entering into a meditative or alpha brainwave state of consciousness, are able to clearly see a fourth pyramid, in the foreground of the other three.

The significance of the image may have been hinted at by psychic Elizabeth Bacon of New York. In a trance reading on the mysterious sphere, she received the message that the object had once belonged to Thoth, the Egyptian god who allegedly buried a secret vault of knowledge near the three great Pyramids of Giza at the beginning of time.

One might view this as a 'record keeper crystal' and 'three' as third dimension. 'Subterranean' is an metaphor for the sea of creation, collective unconsciousness, grid matrix of our reality, Hall of Records, etc.

Do the positions of the three pyramid images in the crystal hold a key to finding a fourth, as yet unfound subterranean pyramid, that is the fabled Hall of Records? I don't think so, but this story is laced with metaphors found throughout Crystalinks' files.

From the side, the internal images dissolve into thousands of tiny fracture lines, and Brown feels these may be electrical in nature, like some form of microscopic circuitry. From still another angle, and under special conditions, many witnesses have been able to see a large single human eye staring out serenely at them. Allegedly photographs of this eye have also been taken.

Dr. Brown's crystal sphere is the source of a variety of paranormal events. People have felt breezes of ionic winds blowing close to it; cold and warm layers surround it at various distances; other witnesses have been phantom lights, heard voices, or felt strange tingling sensations around it.

A compass needle placed next to the sphere will spin counterclockwise, then begin turning in the opposite direction when moved only two inches away.

Metals are temporarily magnetized in close contact with it. There are even recorded instances where one person has been temporarily healed of an ailment by touching the crystal sphere, but then the next person to come into its range took on the symptoms of the ailment of the other person, as if the crystal could draw out and then activate human disorders at will.

Just what the purpose of the crystal sphere was, and what role it once played in the enigmatic instrument Brown found inside the sunken Bahaman pyramid, remains a mystery, though of course there are some interesting possibilities.

PYRAMIDS: It all started with a Yellow man putting one stone upon top of another and thus the Yellow culture was begun. Beloved ones I wish to confirm for you the way of the heart as it was in Ancient times of Egypt.
I often hear from people that to feel ,think or act from the Heart is leaving oneself open to being hurt emotionally or even physically and it saddens me consequently the reason for this message.
Thinking with the heart implies being led by emotions rather than being rational and logically thinking things through which is not entirely correct as the head/mind thoughts often take you away from your passions and correct actions for example the mind remembers the painful memories, not the heart, does this answer why some cannot get past a past hurt?

To continue to allow your heart to feel the hurts of the past will attack your heart, the heart does not attack you.
Another example when you have been beaten and abused on or within your body, its the mind that remembers, stores all the files of yesterday while your heart pumps happily along.

When you stop remembering those files of the past and literally live in the Now moment, you are able to forgive all and move on into a future belonging to heart moments, moment of happiness.

In ancient times that is exactly what was done, thinking, feeling & acting with and through the heart all the time without a question.
In fact in Egyptian times of mummification the heart was said to be so important that it was the only organ which was not removed .
The greatest fear was that the heart was not within the body as our expressions came solely from the heart.............being happy was to broaden ones heart..........to suppress a desire was a washing of the heart..............to hide ones thoughts was to immerse the heart and all friends entered each others hearts.
As a human being this is how I like to think of you as the heart being the Essence of you, the Self.

Your Heart is also the Spiritual center that we all speak from and directly to your heart ..............you will often notice that one of your hands go directly to be held to the place where your heart is when we connect psychically and even to the point of overwhelming tears come to your eyes as the feeling is so heartfelt.

(AA) There’s talk all over the internet about pyramids in Antarctica, something we at Apparently Apparel love to write about. What appears to be causing all the discussion is this picture, showing what looks like two, possibly three pyramids lined up Giza style, nearly covered in snow and ice.

Frankly, I think we’re looking at plain ordinary mountains here, albeit ones of unusual apparent symmetry. But suppose we ARE looking at pyramids (and I think the size of these mountains would preclude that, but that’s just me), or, to put it differently, supposed there WERE pyramids in Antarctica? What would it mean?

Well, for one thing, it would confirm the speculations of many Atlantologists (including, incidentally, the Nazis), who believe that the ice-covered continent was in fact Atlantis, the continent literally being “sunk” under water, in this case, ice. The presence of such structures would raise the bar considerably not only for Atlantology but also for the possible motivations of the Nazi expedition in late 1938 and early 1939, and make it likely – if they discovered such structures during their aerial reconnaissance flights over the southern continent – that they decided to follow up with further investigations.

The reason any discovery of such structures on Antarctica would be significant is rather obvious, for the possibility would be quite strong that if they could be excavated (a mighty big if in Antarctica’s case!) the sites might yield some significant records or artifacts of a lost human past. One might even speculate that the discovery of ancient records and technologies might be considered a top prize. Such a discovery could rationalize not only the curious Nazi expedition, but also the postwar attempts not only to internationalize the continent but to keep the curious visitor OUT of the continent.

While I remain skeptical at this moment, the story is nonetheless worth watching, providing, of course, that we don’t get the usual mix of internet hysteria and hype (and yes, already the story has been predictably linked to extra-terrestrials and secret Nazi flying saucer research bases.)

(From USAHitman) I watched an outstanding video on Youtube titled What’s Going On In Antarctic. The video provided a revealing tour of the bases on Antarctica. I had no idea there was that amount of “science” being conducted down there. Towards the end of the video he shows a pyramid at the Palmer Station. The pyramid is very intriguing and made me very curious as to why a pyramid would be built in Antarctica out of the public’s prying eyes.  Here is a picture taken from the video.

What exactly is the technological challenge? There is essentially no difference between quarrying techniques used by the Egyptians and those used from the 18th century and before, because steam engines only really started in the 19th century.

Not an excuse....just reality. With enough warm bodies (which the Egyptians and the Aztec/Inca/Mayan people had) it's not that hard. It's only a problem if you have to pay your workers (which they didn't), have a time limit (which they also didn't) or need to worry about deaths (which they also didn't). That's the beauty of using slave labour. No costs/wages, no OH&S inspectors checking on conditions or fatalities and no deadlines, so you can keep rejecting substandard work.

That's what the people who claim that 'it can't be done' seem to miss.

If you can kill 100 or 1000 or 10,000 people in order to get a 'perfect' piece of stone work, it's not hard to create a 'perfect' fitting structure.

Personally I'd use tread saws and lathes with lots of water and emery abrasive. They have been around since Ancient Greek times. You can get pretty good precision with those.

Personally I'd use tread saws and lathes with lots of water and emery abrasive. They have been around since Ancient Greek times. You can get pretty good precision with those. The Egyptians used emery from various sources.

They are very flat & smooth.

Still I marvel that the ancients could do such a good job
given the enormous size & weight of the stones without
modern power cranes or cutting tools & machines.

Modern power cranes or cutting tools & machines just allow the job to be done quicker. They were using manual masonry techniques right up to the mid 20th century even in Europe.

These pulley systems have a mechanical advantage of 2,3,4 and 5 respectively.

You can go much higher of course. 


I could lift (and have lifted) extremely heavy rocks using just rope.
It's a standard rescue technique.  When you don't use pulleys, you introduce a lot of drag of course, but it can be done with just rope, or rope and animal fat.

pulleys would have been essential.
Still - that's not the total explanation.
It would probably take years of study to work out how some of these structures were made.
There is still debate about how the great pyramids were constructed.

A perfect cube certainly exists in nature. Fluorite, halite, pyrite, galena and many other minerals form perfect cubes

That one is striated, but you can get perfect cubes.

As for perfect spheres, there is a pretty good one in the sky. It's so close to being a perfect sphere that the equatorial bulge is negligible. If it was modelled in the scale of a large beach ball, the equatorial bulge would be less than the thickness of a human hair.

The city of Heracleion was engulfed underwater 1500 years ago. This grand city had been mentioned by the Greek writer Herodotus, the 5th-century BC historian. He had told a wonderful tale of Helen of Troy, who traveled to Heracleion, then a port of 'great wealth', with her Trojan lover, Paris.

When French marine archaeologist Franck Goddio stumbled upon some relics, it led them to one of the greatest finds of the 21st century; a city underwater. The discovery took place when Goddio had been in search of Napoleon’s warships from the 1798 Battle of the Nile, when he had been defeated by Nelson in these very waters, but to his surprise, he stumbled upon this magnificent discovery.

I do wish to contribute, that's why I brought Mendelssohn up.

To me his arguments and theories make good sense, he is apparently of the opinion that the building of successively bigger pyramids was a mixture of human vanity and economics and that when the cost to the State became excessive that the practice was stopped and succeeding pyramids were insignificant by comparison.

I would like to see an attempt at a logical refutation of his arguments.

A new way of generating linearly polarized photons using quantum dots has been developed by an international team of researchers. The photons are emitted from a quantum dot at the top of a semiconductor "micropyramid", creating an efficient source of polarized light that could be used to develop energy-saving computer and mobile-phone screens, as well as wiretap-proof communications.
A quantum dot (QD) is a semiconductor nanocrystal that displays quantum-mechanical properties thanks to its minute size. The electronic characteristics of QDs are dependent on the size and shape of the individual crystal. As their size and band gap are inversely related, the excitation and photon-emission properties of QDs are highly tuneable.
Predefined polarization
Researchers have long studied QDs and their many possible applications, which include medical imaging and disease detection, LEDs, solar cells and photovoltaics. QDs could also prove to be useful in quantum computing and quantum encryption because they are capable of emitting single photons. But getting the QDs to emit photons that have a predefined polarization has proved difficult and this is an essential requirement for many applications such as LCD screens.
Most devices that create polarized light do so by sending unpolarized light through a polarizing filter. However, at least half of the light (and so an equal amount of energy as heat) is lost in the process, thus making it rather inefficient. To avoid these losses, a better method would involve directly generating polarized light from the source itself. While researchers have known that this is possible with QDs, until now the polarization has either been weak or hard to control and the methods to do it are complex and cumbersome.
But now, Per Olof Holtz of Linköping University in Sweden and colleagues, along with other researchers in Thailand, have come up with an alternative method where asymmetrical quantum dots of indium gallium nitride (InGaN) are grown on top of elongated microscopic six-sided gallium nitride (GaN) pyramids. It is the predefined elongation of the micropyramid that determines the polarization direction of the emitted photons. "We're demonstrating a new way to generate polarized light directly, with a predetermined polarization vector and with a degree of polarization substantially higher than with the methods previously used," says Holtz.

The researchers constructed arrays of GaN micropyramids, one atom layer at a time, and coated them with layers of indium just a few nanometres thick. Asymmetrical InGaN quantum dots form at the apex of each pyramid. The team then used a continuous-wave ultraviolet laser operating at 266 nm to excite the QDs and found that photons are emitted with a well-defined wavelength and that the light showed a high degree of linear polarization, on average 84%.
Holtz told physicsworld.com that nitride-based semiconductors are favourable for the generation of polarized light because of their valence-band structure. "We have identified the split-off energy as the key parameter, which will determine the degree of polarization for a given asymmetry," he says. "In principle, the material with the smallest split-off energy will exhibit the highest degree of polarization, because of enhanced band mixing." He also points out that it is possible to control the direction of the polarization thanks to the elongated pyramidal dots – something that previous methods could not do.

The remainder of "Bent" was completed at the safer angle and that is the face angle that is used for the rest of the big pyramids.

That they were ... I'd agree!

But that doesn't discount the knowledge surrounding Quantum Theory ... that being everything is energy/light vibrating at differing frequencies. In other words matter is energy and E=Mc2.

The fact that things like crystals react to, and can affect electrical circuits and radio signals points towards this.

Still crystals and likewise pyramids are not really my thing ... in my first post on this matter I was just throwing the possibilities out there. Nevertheless sitting under a pyramid made of gold or copper would have some measurable effect on the Body's electromagnetic field (of which for me) there is little doubt! (Just to note : I do have a trade background in the field of electrical fitter/mechanics.)

Personally I have other (preferred and more direct) meditative techniques and practices, and find that much of the "New-age" style fascination with objects etc a bit empty. (I would say) Many who are fascinated with such things ... are merely fascinated or consoled by the objects in question and likewise their interplay with them.

Electrical Bio-feedback devices on the other hand call for a bit more consideration and attention I would say.

I recall going to a Naturopath 20yrs or more ago ... and just how the process of quantifying and digitizing the signatures of materials such as tobacco and then writing that code into a application that in turn can measure your body's reaction to it - works I just don't know.

What I do know is that the computer device and application not only picked up that I smoked tobacco (at the time) - but also the exact brand and strength of the cigarettes I was consuming.

Pretty remarkable really, and more than a bit like the medical tricorder from Star Trek fame.

(Phys.org) —A pair of Australian researchers, Malcolm Choat with Macquarie University and Iain Gardner with the University of Sydney, has after many decades of effort by others, succeeded in deciphering an ancient Egyptian codex. In meeting with members of the press, they revealed that the codex is actually a handbook of a practitioner of rituals and for that reason have published the converted text as "Egyptian Handbook of Ritual Power."


No one knows where the codex was found, but most scholars who have studied it believe it was written by someone in pre-Islamic Upper Egypt approximately 1,300 years ago. An antiques dealer came across it in the late 70's or early 80's who subsequently sold it to Macquarie University in 1981. Since that time, various researchers have attempted to read the text but none were successful until now. The 20 parchment pages of text were written in Coptic, the researchers note, and offer 27 spells and multiple invocations and drawings. It appears likely, the team reports, that the two types of subjects meant that they were once separate documents that were later combined in the codex.
The researchers found love spells, a means for casting out evil spirits and even ideas on how to treat ailments, such as one known as black jaundice. They also found multiple references to Jesus and Sethians—religious groups that identified with Adam and Eve's third son, and others that identified with a previously unknown character referred to as Baktiotha—a god-like figure. Because of the mix of subjects in the invocations, the two researchers suggest the document was likely a representative of a transition period for the people of that time. They also suggest that the person who wrote or used the text was likely not a priest or monk (there was a large number of Christians living in the area during that time) but more likely was a scholarly type, using the codex as a means of helping people achieve desires or goals. Some examples, included spells to help a person do better in business, or to help them get along with others. One spell could be used to assist one person in subjugating another.

Tomb of Previously Unknown Pharaonic Queen Found In Egypt!

Czech archaeologists have unearthed the tomb of a previously unknown queen believed to have been the wife of Pharaoh Neferefre who ruled 4,500 years ago, officials in Egypt said Sunday.

The tomb was discovered in Abu Sir, an Old Kingdom necropolis southwest of Cairo where there are several pyramids dedicated to pharaohs of the Fifth Dynasty, including Neferefre.

An Egyptian citizen, identified as "Nagy" by Arabic news site Ahram.org, was illegally digging in his backyard when he found a tunnel leading to the Pyramid of Khufu. The pyramid, nicknamed the Great Pyramid, is the oldest and largest of the three Giza Pyramids.

Nagy, a resident of the El Haraneya village, near the Giza Plateau, dug 33 feet beneath his house before he found the corridor, made from stone blocks. Egypt's Ministry of Antiquities sent archaeologists to the scene, and a committee confirmed the passage to be the pyramid's legendary causeway.

Archaeologists have searched for decades for the passage to the pyramid. The causeway is mentioned in the Histories by the Greek Herodotus, who claims to have visited it in the fifth century B.C.E. Herodotus wrote that the passage was enclosed and covered in reliefs, but before Nagy's excavation, only small remnants of the causeway had been found.

The Khufu pyramid complex is known to have connected to an undiscovered temple near the Nile River. Thanks to the new discovery, archaeologists believe the temple may be buried beneath the village of Nazlet el-Samman.

The Baigong pipes are one of the greatest mysteries of the ancient world. They can be found inside a badly-eroded pyramid located on top of Mount Baigong in the Qinghai Province of northwestern China.

The crumbling pyramid once had triangular entrances on three of its sides but over time, two of them caved in and are currently inaccessible. The one that remains goes deep inside the mountain. Iron scraps and unusually-shaped stones litter the floor, suggesting that long ago, this place saw activity.

The only remaining cave houses an intricate network of metal pipes, with diameters as large as 1.5 feet and as small as a toothpick. Dozens of pipes run straight into the mountain, leading who knows where.

Some of the archaeologists who visited the site speculated the pipework could have once supplied water to the pyramid. Their theory seems to be supported by a multitude of iron pipes found on the shores of nearby Lake Toson. These ones are also available in a range of lengths and diameters, some reaching above the water surface, others buried below.

Intrigued by these out of place artifacts, the Beijing Institute of Geology analyzed the Baigong pipes using a technique called thermoluminescence. This method allowed them to determine when the pipes were last subjected to high temperatures. Analysis showed the pipes must have been crafted 150,000 years ago.

And the mystery goes deeper. Analysis performed at a government-operated smeltery was unable to determine the exact composition of of the pipes. Although the pipes were made up of ferric oxide, silicon dioxide and calcium oxide, they also contained 8% unknown material.

There is no easy way to explain this mind-boggling discovery. Human presence in the region can be traced back to 30,000 years ago but was mainly comprised of nomadic tribes. It would have been impossible for a primitive society to leave behind such an advanced structure.

A number of theories have made attempts to explain who could have built these pipes and what purpose they might have served. An advanced but long-forgotten human civilization could have constructed a facility that required coolant, and the pipes leading to the lake nearby are all that’s left.

Researchers discover immense pyramid in Mexico, larger than Teotihuacan’s Pyramid of the Sun. Researchers in Mexico have discovered a Pyramid that, according to initial measurements, is larger than the Great Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan. Initial excavations were done in 2010.

The Pyramid, 75 meters in height, was explored by specialists from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) on the acropolis of Tonina, Chiapas, estimated to be around 1700 years old.

Emiliano Gallaga, director of the archaeological zone, explained that work has been done in the last two years, and by means of a “three-dimensional, researchers verified that in the northeastern part of the site, stands one of the largest construction in Mesoamerica, comparable in size only to great Mayan cities like Tikal and El Mirador in Guatemala.

Despite his many critics, maverick archaeologist Sam Osmanagich stands by his claims that he has uncovered not one, but five structures which he says are pyramids in Visoko in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Dr Osmanagich, who earned his doctorate on the history of civilisations at the University of Sarajevo in 2008, was in Singapore recently for a conference, where he spoke about his work on pyramids.

The 55-year-old claims that he has discovered the "biggest complex of pyramidal structures in the world" comprising five pyramids, all connected by underground tunnels.

An archaeologist has made the startling discovery of liquid mercury beneath an ancient pyramid in Mexico, which predates the Aztecs. This could mean the presence of a royal tomb right below one of the most cryptic cities in the Americas.

Local researcher Sergio Gomez announced the discovery on Friday of “large quantities” of the element underneath the Pyramid of the Feathered Serpent – the third largest in the ancient ruined city of Teotihuacan, which is shrouded in mystery and was once one of the largest in the hemisphere.

"It's something that completely surprised us," he told Reuters, standing at the entrance to the ancient pyramid, located about 30 miles (50 km) northeast of Mexico City.

What makes the find more exciting is the city itself, believed to come from the same period as the great Mayan city-states, but even less explored – even its inhabitants have no name, and there used to be 200,000 of them, living amongst gargantuan stone pyramids some 1,300 to 1,900 years ago.

Six years of work paid off when Gomez and colleagues managed to dig their way into an ancient tunnel discovered in 2003 that lay sealed all this time, closed off by the locals themselves. But it was only last year, after gathering substantial resources to carry out research at the highest level that the archeologist announced the discovery of three chambers almost 12 meters (39 feet) below the temple. Immediately they found objects of symbolic value – jade statues, jaguar remains and various hand-carved objects.

The presence of the highly toxic, odorless liquid metal is peculiar, as ancient Americans had no use for it, but it was also discovered at three other ancient sites by a Berkley anthropologist – never in Teotihuacan. Gomez believes this signals the presence of a tomb.

If that’s true, this is the first tomb found in Teotihuacan, following decades of exploration.

His view is shared by some in the archeologist community, who believe mercury might have been used to symbolize an underground river. Mercury’s sleek look and reflectivity must have lent to its ritualistic use.

"But it's still very uncertain, and that is what keeps everybody in suspense," another archaeologist, Geoerge Cowgill, told Reuters. He’s been digging in the ancient city for four decades now.

Now Gomez and team are painstakingly exploring the three chambers, deep in the dank and humid corridors, wearing protective gear to shield themselves from mercury poisoning. Anytime now, Gomez expects to come across the elusive dead king.

Mexican city-states are mysterious because little is known about how they lived, governed, or even how that governance had led them all to collapse onto themselves. Discovering a royal tomb in Teotihuacan would provide a major piece to that puzzle.

The investigations of renowned Spanish architect Miguel Pérez-Sánchez that lasted over ten years, allowed  him to rebuild via computer models and with great accuracy, the pyramid of Cheops and determine that it was “crowned” by a sphere of 2 meters in diameter.


Pérez Sánchez announced his discovery in a publication of the book containing his doctoral thesis where he explained that “the pyramid of Cheops, according to analysis, demonstrates that it was an encyclopedia of knowledge.”

The Great Pyramid is the most important building of the Old Kingdom, it is one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, the only one that remains standing today. Devoid of its original coating blocks of white limestone, the great Pyramid lacks its summit which gave the pyramid another 9 meters in height. Now, researchers know the exact shape of the object that was placed on top of the pyramid.

As proposed by Pérez-Sánchez, the sphere that the ancient Egyptians placed at the top of the pyramid symbolized the Eye of Horus and had a diameter of 2,718 royal cubits (2.7 meters), which is the accurate measure of the number e. The sphere located on the Pyramid was placed as a worship to the Sun and Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, which was associated with Isis.

Pérez-Sánchez had the support of a multidisciplinary team in his investigation, allowing him to construct a computer replica of the Great Pyramid like never before.

The three-dimensional drawing of the Great Pyramid has revealed its original measurements, analyzing it, allowed researchers to understand the historical significance of the monument. In addition of the sphere located on top of the pyramid, missing today, analysis enabled researchers to find out the inclination angle of 51,84º, the platform that supported the sphere with a pi perimeter of royal cubits; and the height of the pyramidal vertex of 277 778 cubits, equal to the quotient of dividing 1,000,000 between 3,600. According to Pérez-Sánchez, the discovery of the original shape and dimensions of the Great Pyramid, its reconstruction and analysis revealed an architecture made of pure mathematics, geometry, geodesy and astronomy.

The original surface of the pyramid, now in ruins, was 100,000 times the number pi (π) 3000 years ahead of the understanding of π.

Following a dramatic new theory by archaeologist Nicholas Reeves that the tomb of Tutankhamun contains two hidden chambers and one of them is the final resting place of Queen Nefertiti, the Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt launched high-tech analyses within the boy king’s tomb on November 4. A new infrared scan of the walls of Tutankhamun’s tomb has now detected an area of greater heat, which may indeed point to a hidden chamber. Excitement among historians is mounting that the long lost queen, and no doubt her wealth of treasures, may finally be found.
Factum Arte scans reveal possible presence of hidden doors
National Geographic reports that Nicholas Reeves first suspected hidden chambers in Tutankhamun’s tomb following a detailed examination of the Factum Arte scans of the artistic works on the walls of the tomb. Reeves noticed fissures that he thinks may indicate the presence of two sealed doors in the tomb’s north and west walls.
“Cautious evaluation of the Factum Arte scans over the course of several months has yielded results which are beyond intriguing: indications of two previously unknown doorways, one set within a larger partition wall and both seemingly untouched since antiquity,” writes Reeves in a paper on his study of the scans. “The implications are extraordinary: for, if digital appearance translates into physical reality, it seems we are now faced not merely with the prospect of a new, Tutankhamun-era storeroom to the west; to the north appears to be signalled a continuation of tomb KV 62 and within these uncharted depths an earlier royal interment—that of Nefertiti herself, celebrated consort, co-regent, and eventual successor of pharaoh Akhenaten.”

Tutankhamun hastily buried in Nefertiti’s tomb?
Reeves posits that King Tutankhamun’s tomb was unfinished when he died unexpectedly as a teenager in 1332 BC. Consequently, he was hastily buried in the tomb of Queen Nefertiti, the principal wife of Akhenaten, who is believed to have fathered Tutankhamun with another wife. Reeves believes that Tutankhamun’s tomb displaced part of Nefertiti's tomb and assumed some of her burial goods and space.
Reeves points out that the tomb is far more typical of Egyptian queens rather than king due to its position to the right of the entrance shaft. In addition, the small size of Tutankhamun's burial chamber has been puzzling to Egyptologists, who have wondered why his burial chamber is the same size as an antechamber and not the typical size of a tomb fit for an Egyptian King. These factors suggest that Tutankhamun’s tomb is part of a larger complex that has not yet been uncovered or that the tomb may not have been intended for him but rather for Nefertiti.
Nefertiti was the chief consort of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhenaten (formerly Amenhotep IV), who reigned from approximately 1353 to 1336 BC.  Known as the Ruler of the Nile and Daughter of Gods, she acquired unprecedented power, and is believed to have held equal status to the pharaoh himself.  However, much controversy lingers about Nefertiti after the twelfth regal year of Akhenaten, when her name vanishes from the pages of history. Infrared scan provides initial evidence of hidden chamber
Last month, the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities gave approval for testing of Reeves theory and on November 4 high-tech but low impact analyses were initiated.  The first test involved infrared thermography, which measures temperature distributions on a surface.
According to Mamdouh el-Damaty, the Minister of Antiquities, “the preliminary analysis indicates the presence of an area different in its temperature than the other parts of the northern wall.” The variation in temperature hints at an open area behind the wall.
“If Dr Reeves is correct, the hidden tomb could be far more magnificent than anything found in Tutankhamun's burial chamber,” reports National Geographic.
El-Damaty says that “a number of experiments will be carried out to determine more accurately the area marking the difference in temperature,” and adds that additional infrared thermography will be carried out over the next week to confirm the results.

This Scholar Says She's Unlocked The Secrets Of The Pyramid Texts

For years, scholars thought that the Pyramid Texts were merely a series of funeral prayers and magic spells intended to protect Egyptian royalty in the afterlife.

But renowned classicist and linguist Susan Brind Morrow has a different interpretation of this sacred literature. She said she believes it's proof of a complex religious philosophy, one that was less about mythology and more about the life-giving forces of nature. She also believes this ancient Egyptian philosophy influenced many of the spiritual traditions that came after it.

The Pyramid Texts are the oldest religious writings that modern scholars have from ancient Egypt -- and quite possibly, the oldest sacred texts in the world.

Morrow explains her research, and presents a new translation of the full text, in her latest book The Dawning Moon of the Mind: Unlocking the Pyramid Texts.

"These are not magic spells at all," Morrow told The Huffington Post about the Pyramid Texts. "These are poetic verses constructed just like poetry today, sophisticated and filled with word play and puns."

Instead of looking at the Pyramid Texts as something written by a primitive and superstitious people, as she claims many Egyptologists before her have done, Morrow put the texts in the context of Egypt's vibrant literary tradition and its cultural connections to nature.

What she said she saw in the ancient lines inscribed on the inner walls of the Pyramid of Unas was a "densely compounded but highly precise" map of the stars. The Egyptians studied the stars to determine what time of year the Nile would flood and make their land fertile again. In this earliest form of Egyptian philosophy, Morrow said she believes it's not a goddess or a spiritual personality that the Egyptians worshipped, but the sky itself. It was nature itself that was sacred, and that held the promise of eternal life.

She offers a new translation of the opening verse of the texts in her book, which she believes describes the soul rising up into the fire, or the dawn sky, beneath the holy ones, or the stars:

The sword of Orion opens the doors of the sky.
Before the doors close again the gate to the path
over the fire, beneath the holy ones as they grow dark
As a falcon flies as a falcon flies, may Unis rise into this fire.
"I realized I was looking at a very vivid, poetic description of the actual world," Morrow said.

Susan Brind Morrow's book features a new translation of the Pyramid Texts.
But James P. Allen, an Egyptologist at Brown University who produced a 2005 translation of the texts, isn't convinced. He likened her translation to the work of "amateurs" and called it a "serious misrepresentation" of the Pyramid Texts.

"It is a translator’s job to be as faithful to the original as possible while using words and constructions that make sense to modern readers. Ms. Morrow has not done that," Allen told The Huffington Post. "Her 'translation' is basically a poet’s impression of what she thinks the texts should say, and not a reflection of what they actually say."

For her part, Morrow is convinced that the hieroglyphs aren't something that is only accessible to professionals. Her purpose in bringing this new translation to light was to encourage others to look at the text, and see what they find.

"Whenever people think of hieroglyphs, they see them as something that has to be deciphered, something archaic and ancient," Morrow said.

"But hieroglyphs are an absolutely vivid reading of nature that is very accessible to anybody today."
