It was a very exciting close game with some of the most amazing tries I've ever seen. Video here: https://www.reddit.com/r/sports/comments/1x6mn0l/reece_walsh_scores_longrange_try_in_the_rugby/ Reece Walsh scored a stunning individual try for the Australian Kangaroos in their 24–22 Rugby League World Cup opening win against the New Zealand Kiwis at Allianz Stadium in Sydney. • The Play: Walsh hit a short pass from Jack Bostock at high speed in the second half. • The Skill: He bamboozled and beat converging defenders— including Jahrome Hughes and Kalyn Ponga—before streaking away to score in the corner. |

Why the hell would Fiji be leading Australia in the rugby league? I was hoping that the Aussies would have at least 40 points over Fiji by the second half.

The majority of Tongan and Samoan players are born in Australia or New Zealand. They play in the NRL. England has some good players, but their rugby league teams are not as talented as their rugby union teams. England did play well against France. The French team is just made up of part-timers, with only a few good players.
I would have been happy to have Ireland and Scotland play in the World Cup. Perhaps have the United States play, and even up the pools. |

Its a farce! Half of the Oceanian teams weren't even born in those countries.
Playing only due to racial ties only. |

Half? Allegedly there were less than 6 players in Tonga and Samoa that were born in those respective countries. Most players were born in New Zealand or Australia. The "grandfather rule" allowed a player who had a relative born in those countries to give the player who could not play for New Zealand or Australia to play in those countries. |
