Title: credit card surcharges Post by Jasin on Oct 1st, 2026 at 7:34pm
So you either payed your coffee ☕️ with either a...
lazy tap & go, which results in a surcharge to cover bank cost Or good old Cash, which gets you a 10c cheaper coffee. But now, the self proclaimed Saviours ALP have saved Australians the cost of surcharges, by removing them, via another Media show of it. Now. Businesses are raising their prices to cover the banking cost, not to mention overhauling their menus & signage, listing's, etc. So for those who made the effort to pay Cash, now have that 10c etc, benefit stripped away. Yep. Now two can lose, when before it could be just one 'out of choice'. Just another 'emotional' victory for the ALP on stage. ::) ...enjoy you new Anus coffee ☕️ people. :P |

Title: Re: Enjoy the new Anus Coffee Post by Bobby. on Oct 1st, 2026 at 7:41pm I never buy coffee when I go out - I make it at home with Moccona and it's more than good enough for me. |

Me too. I haven't bought a coffee here in like... well, before surcharges for lazy tap & go.
I enjoy using cash since watching a program long ago upon an experiment involving thousands of people tested in their spendings with either cash or tap & go card. The result showed a whopping 67% more in increased spending with those using CARD. It was called a sheep effect or something(?) Yep. Spend your money technology guinea pigs. 🐖 |

So a Coffee went from 10c extra for tap & piss off.
To 10c for now both tap & piss off AND CASH TOO. The Anus & the Left don't want us to save, but spend, spend , spend. Just like them. Ever feel like you've been served a brown liquid in a cup that smells like 💩? |

So there was Albo spruiking the "removal" of credit card transaction fees saying this was going to save us all a lot of money.
What a con. The charge hasn't magically disappeared, the banks are still charging it, but now small businesses can't list it as an "extra" item when paying for goods or services by card. Guess what? As mentioned above: Most small businesses are going to up the price of their goods and services to cover the ongoing transaction fee. What's more, even those who pay cash will now get hit with higher prices. This will add to inflation. On top of that, the ATO from the end of November will no longer take payments from businesses via credit cards. Small businesses use credit cards to even out the cash flow when paying the ATO. Now that is taken away. I tell ya what ... small and medium businesses will be out with the proverbial baseball bats come next election. This Labor government is clueless. >:( |

Frickin' arzzholes out there that transfer money to their card to pay for a purchase. They would only transfer enough money to cover the expense on the receipt. They did not account for the 2% credit card fee. I understand completely their frustrations... and perhaps should have let them know of the surcharge. But, why not just have a few dollars left over on your card, and have that added to your next purchase?

Title: Re: credit card surcharges Post by Jasin on Oct 3rd, 2026 at 12:58pm
So the Media's whingefest about paying surcharges has shot themselves in the foot.
They could have just paid cash 💸 Now, via their Servant in Anus ALP. That cheaper alternative is gone. The Media is the real blame and culprit behind all that is failing in this country and going cock-ups. Anus & the ALP are just doing its bidding. |

There was nothing wrong with how things were.
The surcharge was passed on, it accounted for a few cents most of the time. Those who whinged about it are now paying even more. Merchant fees will always exist. Visa and MasterCard are not charities. They run the two biggest payment gateways in the world. That isn't free. |

My local watering hole(a small sport club) has just put it's prices up for the 3rd time this year. There's usually only 2 price rises a year. Feb & August. We had one in August now the extra one started last week. And yes it's entirely driven by the Govts no surcharges on using your credit/debit card. Morons indeed. |

Ohhh…I thought I missed it, as I didn’t see what the card charge was, I just paid a Gold Coast water bill and there was no credit card surcharge! Wow how wonderful! ::)
No merchant fees apply on credit card payments for City of Gold Coast rates and water bills starting October 1, 2026, removing the previous 0.68% surcharge |

If you run a business and use a credit card to pay for business-related tax liabilities or general operating expenses, the card processing fees can be written off as a business deduction.

You can charge any fee you want and call it whatever you want. So long as it is not linked to paying by credit card. There are still credit card fees. The only thing that has changed is that you always have to pay them now, even if you pay with cash. |

Vic roads is a rip off. I bought a used car about 3 months ago and I was charged stamp duty 4% - what the hell does that mean? And I was charged a transfer fee - it came to a lot of money. Vic roads is just a building where they tax you for buying a car when it should be none of their business. A total rip off - thieves with a smile. And at the same time our roads have millions of dangerous pot holes - unrepaired. ::) |

Exactly what that road registration should go towards, the roads we travel on! Did you see on the news about that biker that was killed because of a pothole. Poor guy, was about our age. There was a huge show of solidarity with bikers in Melbourne saying the government ‘has blood on their hands’. As for stamp duty when buying a car, biggest rip off. If a car is an average price of $20,000 that’s $800 more plus transfer fee, on top of having to pay the registration and new service fee. Think of all the millions vehicles/bikes/trucks in Victoria and the amount of rego with new service fee. Then there’s trailers and caravans and boats to pay registration also. Not as much as car/truck/bike, but there’s millions of those around too. The amount of money coming in just with Vic roads must be phenomenal! Yet it’s all wasted elsewhere! Not the potholes. Disgraceful and shameful. |

All states are doing it - it is indeed a rip off. Once the stamp duty is paid on a new car that should be the end of it ..... the same with house & land sales. The Govt should not be able to charge stamp duty on second hand goods. |
