Title: Cut The Fuel Excise
Post by Ai_Killed_Humanity on Sep 30th, 2026 at 7:34am
52.6 cents per litre plus 10% GST.

Inflation out of control. Interest payments on debt rising. Incomes losing buying power.

Albanese more interested in doing the bidding of American AI overlords, forcing higher power and water costs through heat island data centres, than he is in reducing financial stress on voters.

Come on Labor, cut the fuel excise through to early 2027. Cut it for four months.

People are still buying petrol left, right and centre, regardless of high petrol prices. I was hoping that we would see streets clear of traffic and a reduction of traffic during peak hours, as those that don't need to drive around are not driving aimlessly.

The supply and demand factors will come about where if people are acting rationally, we would not be seeing people overusing their vehicles in order to save money. Sick of having to see people doing laps of the town, trying to show off the vehicles they bought with their drug money. But I guess they can afford $2.70/L. Prices will come down when there is a forced desire to save money as much as possible.

Fuel costs are relatively inelastic. People have to buy. therefore cost is not the highest priority.

Such ungratefulness; cut the fuel tax excise and there will be less money for politicians’ pensions and less to go towards the steam submarines etc.

Basically, you don't think like someone on a low income.

Transportation for people like me is a matter of need. Otherwise, I walk where I want to go. When I went on leave, my car sat in my garage 6 out of the 7 days of the week. I only had to refuel my car once in the week just before I went back to work.

People on a middle income or better seem to use their cars as if they are mobility scooters. Too lazy to walk a kilometre down the road to buy their bottle of milk and bread and walk back, it seems.

Right now, I am listening to lunchtime traffic seemingly endlessly parading down the highway. And then there are the screeches of braking trucks. It was only a year ago that I saw how bad were the morning and afternoon traffic. It took 20 minutes to drive 10 km over town to my training session. One afternoon, I was driving back to the northside of town from TAFE. Traffic backed up and people sitting at lights that stay green for about 15 seconds.

I remember in highschool, it was common for students to ride their bikes to school. But you don't see that all that often, these days. Mum has to drop them off to the school gates instead of biking the 2km to the school.

Face it, people are too well off to be complaining about fuel prices. We had a cut of the excise earlier in the year. I doubt any government wants to spoil their population with low fuel prices and no tax revenue coming in. Learn to cope with high petrol prices by cutting your unnnecessary vehicle usage.

As I said earlier in the week - no need for the fuel companies to take any notice of government warnings about price gouging because the airlines have already set an obviously acceptable standard for ripping people off with their airfares for the AFL Grand Final.

Petrol companies are just giving their employees a pay rise. The money has to come from somewhere.

You are saying that the motorists out there have to pay for their petrol when they need to use it. Sure. But, they don't need to be driving everywhere for no reason at all, when they can walk, ride, or stay at home alternatively.

Traffic should show signs of thinning out, with people feeling the pinch of high petrol prices. But, we have so many upper-middle income people that go about their lives driving around like their cars are mobility scooters.

Of course, people who can afford to drive around are going to continue to drive around, regardless of petrol price. But, I live in Rockhampton. We don't get the privileges that people in cities get with employment opportunities, or high wages. Still, there are enough middle income and poor people in town that own cars that should probably be cutting their car usage. My car sits in the garage unless I have to go get some groceries or use for work. I should not be lining up to be getting petrol, on the rare occasions that I do go to fill my small car.

The Anus & the ALP are just doing the bidding of the Media Left narrative here.
Its the Media that is to blame for everything going wrong in this country.
Its so sinister, it even tries to wipe its hands clean on the ALPs towels.

I had a friend a few years ago who lived on a property. Her son was some kind of special needs person that needed to see a specialist every week. It was a 100km drive into Brisbane and then 100km back home. I sympathised with her situation. And I am not sure if she was able to leave the property and move to the city. But, I could not sympathise with her complaining about a fuel bill. A 200km round trip would cost $20 in fuel, plus food expenses (if not bringing lunch from home). And I kind of wondered what sort of needs her son had that required a weekly drive into Brisbane.

A 200klm round trip would cost far more than $20 a few years ago.

Back when it was $1 per litre & the average tank size being 60 ltrs depending on the vehicle -

200klm would use half a tank. So that's at least $30 & a larger vehicle maybe $40.

Been along time since we had $1 per litre.

Oh, my videos of me doing a trip around a course. I am just indulging in nostalgia from my youth. Obviously, the videos are very basic, and I was going to try and make a decent youtube channel out of it. But, my phone pood itself earlier this year and I don't really feel like doing any more videos.

What does it matter? One or two videos where I show an audience how to get through town without going through a set of traffic lights? Much better to do that than to go about doing lap after lap from Yaamba Rd to the East Street Mall and back again ten times over in expensive high performance cars.

I don't know where you get the idea of me being a drug user. I have been known to drink alcohol quite a bit. But my memory is quite good. It is when I go sober for long periods that my mind is overloaded with information.

My boss' guts would burst in a laughing fit if he read what you just typed. He basically has to beg me to go on leave. I accumulated 6 months worth of annual leave in the time that I had been working for him. Then again last year, I had to take another month off work, given that my boss does not want to be making a big pay out when I leave that job.

I would like to point a camera at your bearded face and let your grey nomad voice utter how I am always on leave.

I have just paid my annual rego, something like 10 days ago. Having looked at my bank account, I am basically wiped out until my tax return -- and yes, I do pay tax -- gets deposited soon. I have had to dip into my savings from my other bank account to pay for my stuff.

For my friend who lives on a property and drives a 4wd, it would cost her probably 1.5 times what I would pay for my fuel driving 200km. I could drive from here to Yeppoon and back (80km), and that would be $10 worth of fuel, if that. 200km would mean $20. For my friend, I could understand if she is paying $40 for fuel at $1.70/L back then.

My car could get from here to Brisbane on a 45L tank of unleaded98, and still have a little bit left over. My friend my do the same journey but have to refuel a 60L tank outside of Brisbane.

The number of times I have been grocery shopping and I just do the shopping based on what I think I need, it usually ends up that I have forgotten a few items. Given that I live about 1km from Stocklands, it is not an inconvenience to go back the next day (or whenever I discover that I forgot something).

Having to travel 100km for shopping, I would be writing up a list of things that I need so that I would not have to go back (or go without for the fortnight). The people in Yeppoon did that about 30 years ago. They would not bother shopping at the local grocery stores in great numbers. They would come into Rockhampton, watch a movie, and then do their shopping at the local shopping centre. Ever since Yeppoon Central opened, we don't see those customers anymore.

My free money was put in last Thursday. And I have a fairly big pay day for today. Whatever I spent down there, I probably made 4 times as much in pay. Plus, my tax return will give me a financial buffer.

Having driven back from Gladstone, I am amazed that I got lost 2 years ago. Admittedly, I had to use my directions on my phone through town. But, it seems quite straight forward going from Mt Larcom to home. I must have went through Calliope 2 years ago.
