Title: Things That Make You Go "Hmmm"
Post by Vic on Sep 27th, 2026 at 9:30am
"A Brisbane butcher has been asked to stop selling “pork swords” after a shopper complained about his window display.
The $4.50 sausage creations were deemed inappropriate for a family shopping centre.
He has removed them from view and put up a large sign reading: “Please ask to see my pork sword.”

Whilst the glitteratie attended the premiere of "Swan Lake" at the Palais in Melbourne, Frankston bogans attended a similar performance that was sold out in minutes of tickets going on sale.  Carlton United sent 15 semitrailers of VB to the city for the opening night and white "wife-basher" singlets were in short supply at Dimmeys

Who ever complained is a complete ass.

Children wouldn't even know the intent of the double entendre.

I think the butcher is very artistically clever with his sausages.

I think this country is both being pulled apart and dominated by Gays and Rednecks using each other to gain their own advantages over everyone else here.

Where did we get this Co-dependent infection from?
Probably the USA via its Civil War residual still hanging around.
Trump aside. Maybe the American Left feel threatened by Australia adhering to the British Westernism and feel the need to make us out as the NEW extended version of their Confederate South, to justify their ongoing superiority and right to still exist.

We need to stay Solid (as a) Rock and not become another Archaic (Latin) Western nation like the USA. Their Civil War in itself is a by-product of their wrong choice in rejecting the British way.

Thus the Gay Left here are using Redneck One Nation to empower their justification to take power here, just as One Nation is using the Left to justify their 'One Race' empowerment.

Two wrongs, not making a right.
We must reject BOTH and their ACCUSATION of if you don't support one of them, then you must be supporting the other. Both are playing us off for their own gain and thus, via the Media - are taking control of our Politics.

I can see why the Coalition are keeping their cards close to their chests and quietly refraining to support Gay Left ALP/Greens or Redneck One Nation.
Maybe its all that they can do for now?

We had a great country here once.
Until the Gay v Redneck (North v South) American influence got a foothold here and via THEIR Media - have now taken control.

What can we do about this? :-?

Well Gnads, it was a light hearted post placed in the chat board to generate a bit of a laugh.    Whilst it may have caused you concern aligning a white singlet with a Frankston bogan - it was just a small joke and I am sorry it pissed you off.

To put things in perspective though - which description do you find  more offensive:

A parody about Frankston  bogans that wear white singlets,

or your posting in another board where you wrote

"Faruqi has a nose that wide it looks like she's been smashed in the face with a cast iron skillet." ?

I have 2 navy blue singlets.
Their material is warm to wear.
Could never understand why, even with just the singlet, blokes would wear them in summer?
I've always used them in cold weather, under  other clothing.

I don't like wearing jumpers or jackets.

I just wear T-shirts.

When it's cold, I wear a singlet underneath.

People always say to me: "Aren't you cold?".

I always tell them: "No, I'm wearing a wife-beater under this T-shirt".

It's not offensive.

As a Victorian, I certainly know about Frankston and their reputation for bogans. (except South Frankston, it’s a leafy expensive real estate area as the train line does not go into that area)
But I learnt something knew, I didn’t know RE: singlets (or chesty bonds) as being labelled wife beaters.
Like Jasin and Greggery, hubby wears them under clothing to keep warm.

Being able to discern what is said in jest is somewhat more difficult these days in the written word format on social media - my apologies for not being more observant in that regard.

But was I wrong about Faruqi?  ;D Are you saying I think she should be smashed in the face with a skillet?

I think she should not be in our Parliament & I think PH was right - she should pack her bags & piss off back to Pakistan. She has nothing good to say about Australia & has been openly racist in Parliament.

The original implication associating Jackie Howe singlets with wife bashers belonged to the wearing of navy coloured singlets of the type where they were commonly worn by Shearers.

Hardworking, hard drinking men - who got a reputation wrongly or rightly that on occasion they'd bash their women - whether they be wives, girlfriends or partners.

Franston Bogans aren't the only blokes to wear Jackie Howe singlets - businessmen wear them under their dress shirts -

I wear either navy or white Jackie Howes when the occasion suits.

Jackie Howe is depicted by a bronze statue in Blackall.[citation needed]

After his death in 1920, a poem was penned in 1940 in his honour, as King of the shearers.[14]

In October 2015, Howe's record was reported as still unbeaten after 123 years.[15]

Howe became the name given to navy blue singlet tops.[16][17] According to legend,[citation needed] this is what Howe was wearing on the day he broke the shearing record. It has also been indicated in a woolshed, a big shearer took his shirt and snipped off the sleeves with a pair of shears, saying "I'll make a Jackie Howe of it", with the name associated since.

Quote:
The Jackie Howe singlet is a traditional sleeveless navy blue work shirt named after the legendary 19th-century Australian sheep shearer Jack "Jackie" Howe.

In October 1892 at Alice Downs station in Queensland, Jackie Howe set a world record by shearing 321 sheep in 7 hours and 40 minutes using only blade shears—a feat that remains unbroken.

Legend says Howe tore or cut the restrictive sleeves off his flannel work shirt to stay cool and move more freely while setting his monumental records, inspiring an Australian working-class icon.

Often styled as a deep-scoop, dark blue or black sleeveless tank top, the design became standard practical workwear across Australian and New Zealand shearing sheds, farms, and trade jobs.

Well, there ya go - I've learnt something.

I'd never even heard of him.

Before today, I'd only ever heard the term 'wife beater' for singlets which I always assumed originated from Marlon Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire (and other movies and TV shows where violent men wore singlets - Mafia figures, etc.).

Yeah - they certainly got a bad wrap.

But not from Jackie Howe.

Quote:
Howe was born at Killarney near Warwick, Queensland. Jackie Howe's father, Jack Howe, was also a shearer and a clown with La Rosier's circus,[3] claiming to be the first clown to travel the Australian colonies, and was town-crier in Warwick.[4][5] His mother, Miss Stokes, was a lady's companion in 1840 at Canning Downs station and one of the first European women in the area, before marrying a second time to Jack Howe senior.[3] He grew up as a shearer around Warwick and the Darling Downs, before a short time at Tambo, trying gold prospecting.[3] It was there that he commenced professional shearing.[3]

Howe was active during the shearer strikes of the 1891[6] and 1894, and was a committed trade unionist.[7][8]

Later on Howe owned a public hotel, The Barcoo Hotel, in Blackall, Queensland.[5][when?] There is now a statue there of him holding a sheep.[9] He also at one time was a licensee of the Universal Hotel.[5] However publican life was not for him,[7] and he went onto purchase the property Shamrock Park, and then Summervale.[5]

After an extended illness, Howe died at Blackall in July 1920, leaving behind a widow, six sons, and two daughters.[5] After Howe's death, friend Queensland Premier T. J. Ryan[3] said, in a telegram to Howe's widow, "I have lost a true and trusted friend and Labor has lost a champion".

One son was John Henry Howe, but also known as Jack Howe.[5] He started as a chemist, but also went into shearing, and wrote a book on his father.[5] He later became a publican.[8] Another son, Leslie John Howe got married in March 1925.[10] The second son, Darsey John Howe, wed in September 1927.

Well then. Seems the only Wife Beaters in singlets are Media Orcs like Gwoggy the Pro Rapist here.
