Title: WA Fuel Support Payment Post by greggerypeccary on Jul 31st, 2026 at 3:51pm The Fuel Support Payment is a cost-of-living measure to help ease fuel costs for Western Australians. With work commutes, school drop-offs, driving lessons and life in between, the WA Government is helping Western Australians with a one-off $100 Fuel Support Payment. The payment can be used however you choose, including donating it to a charity directly through the ServiceWA app. You can find more information about the donation option in the Frequently Asked Questions. The fastest and most convenient way to claim the Fuel Support Payment is through the ServiceWA app until 31 December 2026. |

Indeed, it's difficult. I did it yesterday, but it took a while. You have to give your passport and driver's licence details and then they take your photo to verify it's you. The app takes your photo twice - once to compare with the licence and again to compare with the passport. Then they send a code to one app and you have to enter that into the other app, then go back to the first app, etc. Very tedious. My advice to anyone wanting to try it, make sure you've confirmed your identity in the ID app first - with the passport and driver's licence - before you apply for the $100 in the Service WA app. |

The passport is optional. You can use your Medicare card and a few other things. More free advice from me: even if you know that you're never going to travel overseas again, always keep an up-to-date passport. Towards the end of their lives my parents ran into lots of problems with Centrelink etc. because they didn't have any photo ID (no driver's licences as they were too old and too infirmed to drive, and their passports had long expired). A current passport is the gold standard in photo ID, so it's well worth having one. If my parents had kept theirs up-to-date it would have saved me an awful lot of time and worry. |

I played with the app for three hours and decided I am not that poor I need the stress.

So many other people will do the same thing, unfortunately. They could have made it so easy - just present your licence at the post office and they hand you a $100 note and cross your name off the list. I'm glad I persisted with the app though, as now I have some good digital ID, but I completely understand why many people will give up. It was unnecessarily tedious and frustrating. When I first entered my passport details it said I had made a mistake and that I only had four more attempts to get it right or else I'd be locked out of the apps. They didn't tell me what I got wrong though. Turns out I forgot to enter my middle name. |

No. It's secure. Well, as secure as an app can be. I don't trust any of them. Eventually, all sites and apps will be hacked. |

I decided I wasn't going to bother with this.
Does seem a bit strange because it's supposed to help with the increased cost of petrol lately but you only need a current WA drivers licence to get the $100. For example, I haven't owned a car since last September but because I still have my drivers licence I can get the $100 if I wanted it. But, I do not want to download and run the ServiceWA app (or any other government app) on my phone and I believe the paper form option is just about as complicated and annoying as using the app. I don't know why the government can't just pay the $100 directly into the bank accounts of licence holders without all the hassle like they've done with the $114.20 yearly cost of living payment for my WA Seniors Card last week. I kinda get the impression this is a ploy by the WA Government to get as many people as they can to download and use the ServiceWA app. I'll pass, thanks. |

I found out from a letter in today's paper that there is an easier way to get this payment.
Doesn't seem to have been publicised very well. I wonder why? Department of Transport - Fuel Support Payment application No ServiceWA app or paper form needed. So, I have gone ahead and applied for it. The $100 is better off in my pocket instead or Roger and Rita's where they would just waste it on racetracks, ferries and rugby teams. |

Very interesting - much easier. I'm still glad I did it the hard way though - at least now I have digital ID and knowledge of how to use the ServiceWA app. I'm sure I'll need them again in the future. |

Just received the email saying it has been approved and will take 7 to 10 days to process.
7 to 10 days? There was a letter in the paper the other day about that and the writer said it's a pity the government wasn't so relaxed when it comes to money that we owe them. ;D |

The chap who wrote the letter in today's paper said it only took 3 days.
Perhaps the State government knows it will take 3 days but they say 7 to 10 so when it does only take 3 then people think the government is wonderful and efficient? ::) Like the new Fremantle Traffic Bridge which the State government is proudly proclaiming will be finished months ahead of schedule. I wouldn't be surprised if they knew it would be finished before the end of the year but they initially said next February to make themselves look good. Someone actually said this in a letter to the paper last week. Same as Scotty in Star Trek who, after many years finally admitted he always overestimated his repair times to maintain his reputation as a miracle worker. ;D It's also a 'trick' I learned during the 18 years I worked as a mechanic at Fairlanes. If I knew a machine repair would only take 10 minutes I would tell the front end staff it was going to take 20 and when I had the job finished in 10 minutes or less they thought I was wonderful. lol. A few of the other techs also did the same thing. |

Now we just have to wait and see if it is on Budget, and if there are any post-finishing works not accounted for.

The $100 Fuel Support Payment arrived in my bank account today.
Not bad, I applied for it on the 22nd which was last Saturday, they probably didn't get around to processing it until Monday. |

We have the worlds most expensive passport thanks to Labor why would anyone get one if they don't intend on travelling. Much cheaper options for ID. If the government can give you $100 for fuel support it shows you have been overtaxed |

Wow, glad I didn't decide to apply with the paper form.
From yesterday's The West Australian. 4 months to get $100? I wouldn't have bothered. 20260909_104254.jpg (75 KB | 10

Why does such an energy-rich country like Australia ( not to mention a State like WA) need a fuel support payment?
And what happened to the $275 electricity rebate? Why was it even contempelated and why is electricity so expensive? Answer: Er... government policies. |

How can I be stealing it when the State government is giving it away? Perhaps you should ask Roger Rugby and Rita Racetrack why they're giving this money away? If it was supposed to be a 'bribe' to get votes for the recent Secret Harbour by-election well - that certainly failed. And, while you're at it, perhaps you can ask them why they're spending millions on their abovementioned pet projects (including the Matilda Bay ferry terminal that no one except them wants) while hundreds or thousands of people are living on the streets and in cars, etc.? |

Such is the path of the Superior Man Missus tells me now I hit 65 I can get a seniors card and knock a few bucks off here and there. My super is nearly 3 million. What sort of piece of poo would try to take when he had done so well. I had to reprimand her and tell her we aren't those sort of people. |

I have a friend probably worth twice what your super is - one of his houses in Hervey Bay is worth close to $2million. He's always crying as to why he can't get the pension - & having to pay CGT on any of the properties he owns if he wants to sell. He's 74. Everything he does - that I would call a hobby he has to make money out of .... he'll never spend what he has. |
