Title: Albanese's Fuel Tax To Rise Post by Ai_Took_Our_Jobs on Jun 19th, 2026 at 12:22pm
11 days time, fuel rises due to a temporary halving of the fuel excise on petrol and diesel ending. (30th June)
Should Labor extend the halving of it's fuel excise for say one more 3 month period, as a way of keeping ON support flat/falling ? |

It must be keeping them awake at nights.... thinking about how their ratings will plummet when people start to get used to diesel under $2 again and then wham... up it goes again to feed the most wasteful government's pockets since Federation.
Hanson is working on reducing the number of unnecessary hangers-on paid out of the public purse - all these 'commissions' and 'services' that are applied only to limited portions of the populace and discourage them from assimilating. I'm not a ON person but I've long mooted the idea that all these special interest group (yes - that phrase crept into political discussion a coupla days ago) 'commissions' = Star Chambers run by the modern day equivalent of Gauleiters appointed by Der Reich who are not accountable to The People in any way (alongside government public service now run by appointed Gauleiters on contract also not accountable to The People but direct to government of the day alone) - all need to go for the good of our quasi-democratic society and so that it might once again resume its once upward mobility in genuine rights and equalities for all. Bloated government needs to be cut down to size and all the hangers-on for special interest groups put in their place - as a footnote in the history books - and all that currently lost money feeding parasites to parrot the official line of The Party put to proper use for The People as a whole. P.S. More and more people are latching on to the understanding that this style of 'government' is more akin to Nazi Germany in many ways than it is to any genuine democracy of The People first and foremost... this is not strictly an Albo thing - it's been creeping in since the 1980's - conspicuously shortly after the government of the day decided we needed masses of immigrants from one war-torn zone to disrupt our society and then installed affirmative action to continue the trend - it's been downhill ever since, and all relative unity, shared values and genuine opportunity for all and genuine equity (not to mention equality) lost to suit 'The Chosen Ones'. The Labor government can find money to waste on a voice to parliament campaign and vote. But somehow cannot find money to keep the halving of the petrol tax extended for another few months.

As it was originally reported as being the full amount this is simply another Albo cave in to try and protect his party and himself.
No one can be sure what Albos government will do until the opinion polls and focus groups tell Albo what will make him popular. I will be interested to see how quickly the price rises compared to how long it took to come down? |

The fuel tax theft should be permanently removed - There is no justification for it and there never was.

All Albo did was to temporarily reduce the rate due to a world fuel emergency. This was never his tax at all. Quote:
