Title: ebola

The WHO has raised its risk assessment of an Ebola outbreak in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo to "very high", with 82 confirmed cases of the virus detected so far.

It comes as the province most heavily affected by the outbreak bans funerals and suspends its local football league in a bid to stop the virus from spreading.

I'm sure aquascoot will be along shortly to tell us this is just another "mild respiratory virus" and nothing to worry about.

Meanwhile, Ebola is probably being slowly and silently spread around the world thanks to the airlines who undoubtedly won't be taking any precautions to prevent infected people from travelling.

No masks, no quarantine, no testing. Give it a year or two and "let it rip" will become the norm.

Governments and the media will try to downplay (or ignore) the danger in the meantime, of course. Just like what eventually ended up happening with Covid when it wouldn't 'fizzle out' like the original SARS did 20 years ago and it got to the stage where SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) protections (not restrictions) were affecting businesses and the economy too much.
