What are you stockpiling, I doubt any of our food comes through Hormuz and most of our goods come from China.

China's also reliant on the strait : oil, gas, fertiliser, etc. China's no longer exporting sulfuric acid, which is used to produce fertilisers and for extraction in mining.

The coming US's winter crop is the smallest since 1972. Soya's bumper, all others have been effected by mostly drought.

There are already fertiliser shortages in parts of the world.

I'm guessing food prices should stay stable for a few more months, so have been cherry picking, such as quality marked down meats for pet food, freezing it off, preparing when pet foods dries up.

This week : couple of large bags of rice, a spare container of motor oil, and spare parts for tools, when parts disappear from shop shelves. Already full up with spare fuel.

Plus a free ute full of animal manure for spring veggie garden.

Consider every supply chain is going to slow, or freeze up. Figure out short, medium, and longterm things required, then start ticking them off.

The cheapest safety option, imo, would be to slowly buy some 'dry' [i.e. cheap non-perishable] food stuffs,
and start stocking your pantry shelves,
for a day when my second sentence may become a reality.

Even if you only bought some 'chook wheat'.
[it could keep you and yours alive.
and you could learn a new skill set....how to make 'chook wheat' [or other grains] into a palitable food.]

Eating chook wheat ?

Our circumstances would never get that bad.

No demand for human farmers, medium to longterm.

Ai+Robotics = drones flying overhead, chemically smelling, sensing areas of crops beginning to stress, responding with what they require.

Orchard trees communicating shade is required and robots unleashing the shade cloth.

Reducing cost inputs, while maximising harvests.

If any human farmers are pigheaded enough to try and solider on, they will be forced out financially.

That's if Ai/Robotics haven't extincted us by then. Food crops will not be required. Guess there's a chance Ai will grow crops for energy ... perhaps with our carcasses for fertiliser.

I think a couple of starving cops with pistols would be nearly as likely to come through your windows and go after that stockpile.

If i see some rabbits i will grab them for dog food.

If i see some small piglets might grab them as well.

I do see Goats out there i prefer Venison.

Exactly - I've long been saying that  the comparison between this 'global economy' and the potential strangulation of the life lines of EVERY nation involved in it makes them all equaly vulnerable.  Australia has farming land going to waste, resources going offshore for a pittance.

I constantly compare the chicken feed of 'royalties' with Howard's stolen now $335 Bn sitting in a tax haven for his and his mates' benefit regardless of what they do to this country - notice how NONE of our otherwise genuinely forward-thinking politicians etc ever even address that simple issue?  He bought them all with the promise that their feed lot is guaranted for life and beyond... the country be damned....
